ST. LOUIS — Marques Townes and Clayton Custer roamed the court aimlessly after the final buzzer sounded, ignoring everyone and everything while in their own bubbles of disbelief and disappointment.

Each Loyola senior lifted his jersey and wiped his eyes with it.

A season after baptizing legions of new Loyola fans with their dazzling storybook March en route to a historic Final Four run, the Ramblers won’t make the NCAA tournament after their 53-51 loss to Bradley on Saturday in the Missouri Valley Conference semifinals.

“Our goal was to get back there,” Townes said. “I was sitting on the bench before the game, just before they announced the lineups, and I was looking at the little video board and I almost wanted to cry because I was just so excited to get out there and play. To realize now that was our last chance to get to the tournament for me and Clay, it hurts.

Bradley ended Loyola's season once. Loyola ended Bradley's season three times. That's even more fun!

Not to mention, Clayton Custer and Marques Townes will both be remembered as Larry Bird POYs and Final Four participants.

No one on that Bradley team will be particularly remembered...except maybe for some infamous things.

Alright, alright...I have many more fun facts, but I'll cease my hijacking of this thread...for now.

Maybe those Thursday games excited you back then but nobody cares about whom ends whose season on Arch Madness Thursday. Thursday teams are dead men walking.

Luqman Legend and Darrell Brown (MVCT MVP) are both very fondly remembered in Peoria.

Be careful with that bubble now.

I think anyone on here will admit they're jealous of Loyola's recent NCAA runs. I just like to think if we ever replicated it we wouldn't be so douchey.

What was “douchey” about it? We’ve only ever responded in here in defense to our team/school.

"Loyola sucks" "Hope Loyola loses" etc.

Loyola fans reply.

"Wow, so douchey."

Did you expect just silence in this thread as fans poke fun at Loyola?

Oh I dunno maybe the million "fun facts" on here, the talking up the A10 and suggesting Loyola could/should poach our players now. Maybe it's all justified pent up hostility from the derisiveness they faced early on. Doesn't matter who started it. Both sides think they'll be better moving forward.

To be honest, both sides probably will be better moving forward.
