It's definitely a stretch as an institutional fit.

Your ridiculous opinion has been duly noted.

It will probably be at least May until a new AD is named; much too late to be making a coaching change.

They should make the change anyway. they will be taking a flyer on any new coach, so might as well not waste another season with Lickleiter.

Evansville’s institutional fit is fine. They have more students endowment and attendance than St. Bonaventure, and more students and attendance than Davidson. There’s no reason they can’t be competitive. If McCarty could keep it in his pants who knows where they’d be now.

This just didn't pop up. I have heard from multiple people that our new president, as well as some influential boosters have wanted Spencer gone since the McCarty fiasco. It was well known that his contract expired in May, and basically no one expected it to be renewed. I am pretty sure they have been working on this, and the new AD will be in place shortly. I could bore you with the failures of Spencer, but let's just say he has burned more than one bridge, and has many issues besides a failure to properly vet McCarty.

As for Lickliter, who knows? I am pretty sure he has one more year on his contract. Regardless, the AD move had to be made, and absolutely had to be the first domino. No one within 100 miles of Evansville wanted Spencer to have anything to do with the next hire.

We haven't had a decent AD since Jim Byers retired around 2000. At that time, Crews was playing in front of 10K every night, Kathi Bennett and Tricia Cullop had built a very respectable womens program. Our men's soccer team was a national powerhouse through the 90's and Jim Brownlee had our baseball team competing every season. The fact everything went to crap the last 20 years is no coincidence.
