I think you're vastly underestimating Drake and Bradley for starters, we don't need UNI to save the league [ no offense to UNI] .

Drake alone can make us a 2 bid league. Everyone acts like you have to have multiple at large teams to be a 2 bid league. In November, more clarity will come on who is good and who isn't. These games are not played on paper.

Good points.

And we all follow the MVC very closely (of course). But I doubt we follow any of the other leagues comings and goings this closely. It's all relative to what is going on in the rest of the college hoops world.

SIU, Drake and Bradley have almost all of their key players back and they were borderline top 100 teams last year (Drake and Bradley were).

I think there's a lot to look forward to for the MVC. Illinois State made a good hire, think Indiana State is making progress, Belmont & Murray are established programs that will build up in the next few years, UIC will see a bump. But right now the top of the MVC is pretty bad. Think of the year or two after Wichita left the Valley bad.

The top of the league isn't the problem. We should have 7 teams in the KenPom top 150 in preseason rankings and possibly even 5 or 6 in the top 100. We’ll likely have 3 or 4 teams below 200 and a couple flirting with 300. That is what kills your conference rankings.

We really only had one bad year after Wichita left in 2019 when we only had 3 teams above KenPom 150 and no teams in the top 100.

In 2018, we had all 10 teams above 155 in KenPom, including four top 125 teams, including KenPom 31 Loyola. That was a very respectable year as there were no teams dragging down the conference.

I agree with this. It isn't just the Valley getting torn apart by transfers. Relative to everyone else at our level, we're in the same place. The A10, the Mountain West and the WCC are in the same place we just don't focus on them because we're Valley centric.

You’ll be talking more about how times have changed when you fire Valentine. Loyola’s peak walked out the door with Moser and Krutwig. Last year was running on gas they left in the tank. It’s all downhill from here.

This will be an interesting development to watch over the next few years. I'm not sold that they will still be a great program in 5 years. Could be...

Speaking of Wichita State, I saw where the good schools in their conference that are leaving are actually leaving after this next season. They probably only have 1 more year of being in a top 10 basketball conference

If you take the 5-year KenPom of the future membership of each conference, the AAC falls to 11th with C-USA right on their tail.

And the XII hasn’t decided whether they’ll move to 14 yet (Commissioner and multiple ADs have commented they’re considering it). If they decide on 14, there’s a very good chance the AAC loses Memphis.
