My point is the search firm isn't going to find you someone a good AD/Athletic Department can't find on its own. It's 2022. There aren't awesome candidates hiding somewhere that only a search firm can uncover.
Spending six figures to a firm to find you someone is a waste of money. Assuming the pick is someone that ONLY the search firm could get is a fallacy.
I normally would agree with this, but this firm is also the ones that just worked with the university on the AD hire. As such, they are very familiar with all facets of the university. I doubt we would have connected with the AD of Cal-Bakersfield without them.
I believe the term used was consulting with them. I am sure AD Ziggy has a short list of candidates he is interested in, but if a slam dunk comes out of left field, then we are all better for it. I am encouraged UE is pulling out the stops and throwing dough at this search. We all saw how horrible the last two hires were when left up solely to the AD.
If you want an example of just how poor our former AD was, this is the class of idiot he hired without doing a basic vetting of.
