Jawaun Newton heads to SIU

I get the whole portal thing and why we are where we are, but I still think it is wrong and problematic that transfers are allowed in-conference. These types of transfers should not be allowed.

Just curious, why ? Makes perfect sense for both player and school as far as known commodity both ways.

This is not a huge surprise as the first commits received by the new staff have all been guards in addition to the recent news of ILST making Josiah Strong's top 5, opening the door for his possible return. I am surprised it took him this long to enter. Deadline to inform the school was 5/1 and the school had to enter it within a couple days.

Just curious, why ? Makes perfect sense for both player and school as far as known commodity both ways.

I just think it's a bad dynamic to allow a player to go from once conference school to another. I know it's poaching season for all, but it just seems that conference dynamics can lead to bigger problems by going after another team's players that you're going to see twice a year.

Haven't heard anything since the Newton signing. That was weeks ago. Dead silence out of Carbondale lately.

Where are you seeing this? Haven't seen anything involving SIU since the Newton transfer a month ago.
