Good point. It's always taken superior talent for Ben Jacobson to win games. Loads of HS All Americans on his teams historically...

Top half of the league in 15 of his 16 years so the fall is obviously coming

He’s had a great career and is a fine coach.

But they did lose Green and Carter to the portal and have replaced them with … ?

DJ Burns - 6'7 F
Jamari Smith - 6'8 F
Jaxon Edwards - 6'6 WG
Kenny White - 6'7 WG
Justin Morgan - 6'5 G
Robin Perry - 6'4 WG
Quincy Anderson - 6'4 G
JaCobi Wood - 6'2 G
Braxton Stacker - 6'4 G
Rod Thomas - 6'0 G
Patrick Chew - 6'4 G
Brian Moore 6’3 PG

Racers add ESPN 4* F Sam Murray II out of Harrison Central High School in Gulfport, MS, only one scholarship left to fill. Be tough to top this week.

What was the injury issue with this kid? I’m hearing it caused some big schools to back away from him. And it does seem odd he would wait this long to commit.

It is typical this time of year to overrate all the new players on rosters and underrate the returnees in the league.

The thing is, there's not much returning talent. SIU and Drake have probably done the best at retaining their top talent. I like what SIU did this offseason but I have serious concerns about their offense still. Plus, I need to see them start to beat top talent.

A lot of teams lost a bunch of talent and don't think they did well at replacing it. I think Missouri State, Murray State, and Illinois State did the best work of those teams.

Bradley lost one guy. Sure, he was a good one, but he was the only one that mattered. I don't think losing Terry Roberts takes them a potential contender to mid pack. Mast is back. Leons is back. Ville is back. JaShon Henry is coming back after barely playing last year. Connor Hickman was a first-team All-Freshman team guy.

I would go Drake, SIU, Bradley as the top three for sure right tnow.

Trey Campbell who is second to Green in pretty much every category in the Cedar Falls record books and Michael Duax who the staff absolutely loves but was banged up last summer and decided to redshirt because of the COVID guys. Plus, Phyfe is starting to beat long COVID.

Plus, it's May 20th. Lots of time to find another couple of bodies.
