So I have been pondering something ever since it was announced that Murray was entering the MVC and Prohm was hired as coach. The MVC, as well as every other mid-major program in the country is considered, with few exceptions, as a stepping-stone program. As we all painfully know, the allure of exponentially bigger money and the razzle/dazzle of a major program is tough to compete against. So once a coach makes that transition, and sticks for a few years, and gets well paid on an annual basis, and gets a golden parachute when they are canned, what is the impetus for that person to bust their rear-end in a job that requires many hours away from home and family? Observing Murray thus far, I have had a feeling that their coach is on cruise control. I ran across the following this morning and was pretty much flabbergasted. Given that it was a home loss to a conference rival it should be filed under WTF in my opinion.

Not sure what you found a problem in his interview ; said all the standard stuff coaches usually do. As far as coaches coasting after making some $$$, I think that'd be rare; that's just not how most coaches are wired.

Murray has 1 assistant and 1 player from last year’s team.

A .500 year was bound to happen no matter who the coach.

True. I had higher hopes after they beat Texas A&M and Tulsa, but we've come to find out that those teams are pretty mediocre as well.

Congrats to SIU, they looked like a top 3 Valley team last night. Their defensive effort was impressive and should serve them well this season.

To be fair, they had the hardest first two games of any MVC team and won both.

The end of the Drake/MSU game was insane. Big win for the Bears

Ford did some tinkering , has had to overcome injury to probably the Bears 2 most anticipated transfers in Lee and Graham , but in all that found a group that would commit to defense and established a much tighter 8 person rotation, and we're now playing pretty solid basketball. Still struggle at times offensively despite the number of options, but players do seem to be more cognizant of their roles ; nobody going off script much. For second straight MVC game, our length really bothered the opponent . Gonna have to start honking Mogbo's horn as a candidate for All-Defensive Team; he's been a force .

SIU out scores Belmont 40-17 in the second half in front of 7,100+ fans. Really good game to get to 3-1.
