Out: Luke Yaklich
Yaklich, who had a stout rep as a defensive tactician when he was hired, is out after four seasons and a 47-70 record. The Flames made the jump from the Horizon League to the Missouri Valley in Yaklich's third year but went 8-32 in league play after transitioning. The program was a victim the past two years in the transfer portal cycle. A source said Monday that a former power-conference head coach from the Midwest has been contacted for this job.

Was UIC really hurt that badly by the transfer portal? Isiah Rivera was a really good player that the Flames got from the portal.

They lost Jace Carter who started all year at Texas A&M and Jalen Jackson who scored 16 per game at IPFW.

I’d be all for giving Dee Brown a real look. He’s still a very well known and well regarded name in the Chicago area and has had some coaching success since leaving as a UIC Asst Coach two years ago.

Forgot about Jackson. He would be a good MVC player.

But when you don't win you run a higher risk of losing dudes.

The worst for UIC was just before last season.

Had two impactful players transfer very late -

Tyler Stevenson transferred to UIC from Southern Mississippi where he averaged 14.6 PPG and 7.5 RPG. But he transferred to Mississippi State in July and never played a game for the Flames

Then later that summer, Damaria Franklin transferred from UIC, where he averaged 17.8 PPG and 7.9 RPG, to Memphis. His dad got involved and did say that they didn’t improve the team enough as his reason for leaving.

Those two hurt and put us in a bad place entering the MVC.

Travis Ford got fired tonight before even boarding the bus. This business is brutal.

Weber in St. Louis might not be good for his mental health. I think he has PTSD from 2003: http://www.mvc.org/mbb/stats/2002-03/html/mvc-09.htm

Devries to SLU makes a lot of sense for SLU.

If Schertz doesn't get Louisville, he's taking SLU.

Will he pull a Matt McMahon and take the Sycamore’s roster with him? Keep him there at least one more season Larry!
