The administrators got what they wanted. But fans and admins are often not on the same page.

I meant that I went there and saw most people excited to move to the C-USA, but then calling out fans of other MVC schools for any perceived slight in their move. There's a lot of them.

Most of the comments I've seen everywhere from other MVC school fans are positive towards them.

I will very much miss the "local" feel of the conference, The "family" feel of the conference, and the very under rated quality of the conference. I personally am not football driven, this decision is. I also understand the relevance of the conference diminishing when you replace WSU, CU, and Loyola with Valpo, UIC, and Belmont. The trendline is not good. I will greatly miss the friendly hatred of SIU, UNI, ISU, and BU. Maybe we can meet up again someday. I don't know what the future holds for MSU, but I think a truly honest evaluation would say that staying put in the Valley is accepting the irrelevance that is being forced on schools at our level. At least this appears to be an attempt at fighting on.

You know what would've really helped this league as teams left?

Missouri State not being dog s*** for the last decade. No one in this league has done less with more in men's basketball.

I wish no ill will. I hope it goes well for you but don't talk about the league letting you down like some discount Shocker nut bag.

Last NCAA appearance for Missouri State was 1999 (almost as bad as Illinois State’s 1998)!

He isn't wrong though, were currently debating the merits of adding *more* Horizon league teams and irrelevant directional schools from Texas...

To be fair, UT-Arlington's NET was 129 last year and they're expected to be better. And if you want to talk irrelevant Texas schools, CUSA champ Sam Houston State's NET was a whopping 152. Trading MSU for UTA could easily be an upgrade on the court.

It is what it is. Missouri State is gambling that by joining the bottom FBS rung they can somehow propel themselves into the stratosphere. It's an expensive proposition that needs donors to step up and likely a huge increase in student fees. I think it's likely their other sports will see cuts in order to feed the FBS beast and that eventually the Power conferences will break away entirely and they'll be left on the same level as the MVFC anyway.

Right or wrong - too much is being put on the qualify of the schools out there. I think, and of course I could be wrong, just having strength in numbers will help a league survive moving forward. Going to 12 teams/14 teams makes you stronger only in that it keeps you from folding if/when people leave.

I'm not going to fret too much about who the league added. Murray State and Belmont (while small sample) haven't moved the needle one bit since they joined the league. To me get a school that makes sense from a geography and financial basis and let's roll with 12.

This is my line of thinking on Arlington, they are decent already at basketball and have shown a willingness to invest a lot, in 5 years the hoops product could be better than it is with msu. I believe maintaining basketball competitiveness should always be a top priority.

I know for a fact it is a relatively easy direct flight from Chicago, Peoria, and Bloomington. I can only assume it is the same from nashville. A quick look up and both the iowa schools and evansville also have direct flights into dallas. I do get the travel concerns but i just dont think a once a year flight to dallas for each athletic team is nearly as catostrophic as people want to make it out to be.

Finally, the privates want to recruit DFW students and believe this could help. I dont get it at all, i think it is ridiculous but for this reason UTA will be a strong cadidate. I will never force someone to be pro Arlington and understand why people would not be but there are some positives from adding them that i hope the anti arlington crowd could at least try to embrace if the mavs are in fact added.

IllinoisState is 100% correct. Also, two of our historically most successful programs are directionals (from states far less populus than TX, no less), so that point doesn't square up at all. Not to mention Missouri St was SW Missouri St during their Sweet 16 heyday.
