Here's a blindside. Ditching RSNs for regional OTA.

This is an interesting development. Just looked it up. Looks like it’ll be local channel 12 for people around Southern Illinois/Murray State territory.

With cable effectively dying, switching to OTA will probably reach more Valley fans. We lose some of the out-of-footprint states of the RSNs, but OTA will penetrate more MVC fans who've cut cable in recent years. (Today, only 40% of households still have cable, and that number's declining.)

This is an excellent move to boost the ratings over the A10. One hiccup I see is with teams located within the same broadcast market. For instance. Who gets the card between UIC and Valpo.

I would assume we get a lot better tv ratings with this change. I think this will be great for our conference.

Interesting that there is no Bloomington-Normal affiliate.

I assume they are sharing the Peoria market with Bradley.

It's going by county so the bottom right of the Peoria DMA is McLean County where ISU is so you're right.

Peoria and Bloomington-Normal are in the same media market and covered by WHOI.

Yep, those are media markets (DMAs) on the map. Peoria and Blo-No are in the same DMA:
