the MVC has its' first NCAA champion of the outdoor meet, in the very first scored event! Illinois State's Tim Glover won the javelin with an NCAA leading throw of 263-6, winning by 8 feet. Impressive.

this is at least the 6th straight NCAA meet (indoor/outdoor) the MVC has had an individual champion! Congrats Tim and Illinois State! good work!

Other MVC results so far today.

Indiana State's Kelsey Hanley was 23rd in the women's discus.

UNI's Holli Hosch was 16th in the women's 800
UNI's mens' 4 x 100 meter relay team was 21st

Wichita State's Brett Trudo was 23rd in the javelin

Drake's Jon DeGrave was 20th in the men's 400 meter hurdles

Jake Deiters of Southern Illinois placed 11th in the men's discus

Wichita State's Aliphine Tuliamuk and Tonya Nero placed 5th and 7th in the women's 10,000, scoring the 1st points for an MVC women's team.

I did some research on the MVC site and for those who may not realize it, the MVC is a pretty dam* good track conference. The MVC men and women have produced at least one NCAA individual champion in 8 of the past 10 NCAA meets (indoor/outdoor) (2007-2011)

Not many conferences can say that.

day 4 results

Wichita State's Josh Crawford finished 20th in the triple jump

Southern Illinois' Jenva McCall was 7th in the shot put, Southern Illinois' Gwen Berry was 12th in the shot put, and Indiana State's Felisha Johnson was 18th in the shot put.

that wraps up competition for the MVC at this years' meet. Things are looking up and I expect the MVC will do even better in 2011-2012. There were 23 athletes from MVC schools who competed in this years' outdoor meet.
