Oregon player dumps Altman for Marshall

6'0" PG Malcolm Armstead is on campus. He'll sit out this year and play his senior season in 2012-13 at WSU.

WSU loses Ragland, Murry and Kyles after this season, leaving only Demetric Williams who will be a senior, Tekele Cotton and Evan Wessel (both incoming freshman, one or both of whom could redshirt).

It is a "2 for 1". Not a big fan of that, but in this situation it does make some sense based on the situation I described.

I'm curious about this. He wanted to leave last year but Altman talked him in to staying. Are you referring to the increased competition at his position next year? Or to make room for someone else?

Oregon was "1" over the schollie limit for next year.

It's not often that you see a senior to be who gets substantial minutes during a relatively successful season leave a program. There's a reason for it and the reports are that he's a primadona who puts himself before the team. I wonder how the conversation went between Marshall and Altman on this considering they never seemed to like each other. It would be funny if Dana gushed over the kid and gave a glowing review to Gregg to pull the wool over one last time.

Isn't WSU out of scholarships?

Nothing has been said about the scholarship situation. We assume Armstead is getting one this year, but its an assumption. We do know for sure that WSU is still after Walker. He may visit Xavier next week and is likely to take a trip to Kansas but those are not set. Walker has already been to Northwestern. Other schools like Marquette, Boston College, Iowa State and Florida are trying to get into the running.

So, if WSU gets Walker, who does Marshall run to get the scholarship? Did somebody not make grades?
