As of a few weeks ago it was Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Canisius, Arkansas-Little Rock and IUPUI. But then about a week or so ago, Michigan State posted that they were looking for another team because one backed out. No indications anywhere which team backed out. However, based on what Evansville has scheduled right now, I don't think they were ever in the mix. It was just a good rumor that got started.

Rumor has it that Illinois St. is playing Chicago St. on Nov. 26th. Not sure if it is home or away. Also, we are unsure about the Western Michigan return as it was originally reported that it was going to happen this year, but some reporter for WMU said it wasn't.

Indiana State should win the Old Spice Classic. Fairfield is probably the stiffest competition and that is not an exaggeration. Arizona State, DePaul and Wake Forest were three of the worst BCS-conference teams in the nation last year. I'm a Gillispie guy but Tech lost its entire lineup from a bad team. Dayton and Minnesota also missed the NCAAs last year.

Normally the Old Spice is by far my favorite Thanksgiving tourney. A lot can change from pre-season expectations, but right now this year's field doesn't look very good.

Should? SHOULD?? You know, you're right. Jake Odum will undress Jahii Carson when they match up. No comparison. SHOULD?

Well at least we know the conference RPI will be up next year. Looking forward to replacing losses to Ball State, Eastern Kentucky, Loyola and Wyoming with wins over Arizona State, Minnesota and Texas Tech.

Some of you are making the entire league look like a collection of persons served. Should........

Basically compiling of a bunch of different sources

local papers/beat writers, twitter, facebook, tourney announcements, schedule announcements (ours as well as when we show up on other teams schedules), rumors, message boards, basketball travelers, MVC/MWC challenge announcements, bracketbuster return games (the return has to happen within 2 seasons). In many cases games carry over from the previous years (home and homes, two for 1's).

For example, I found out through ISU's beat writer that because we took "technically" a one and done by going to Fresno St. this year to open up the season, they are giving us a guaranteed home game the following. Someone on our fansite found out we were playing Chicago St. this year because a former player and now current CSU player posted it on his twitter. Our games against UNC-W and UALR are the return of a home/home contracts, our morehead st. game is a bracketbuster return. The cancun challenge was first rumored by our beat writer and Jankovich himself then publicized (Lipscomb, SIUe, Rutgers, Richmond/UIUC). Everyone plays in the bracketbuster and it always happens in February. Only one we are unsure about is the Western Michigan bracketbuster return. It was rumored that it was going to happen this year, but there have been some conflicting reports. Jank also came out and said that he wanted to schedule one more home and one more away game (not sure if Chicago St. is included in that since we found out after)

Basically you have to piece all of these things together. You do have to do a bit of digging, but they usually surface on the message boards eventually.

Like BirdmanBB mentioned, everything he mentioned about sums up how I find info on the schedules and stuff. I imagine he does some of the same things. The info about the Evansville dates came out of the blue from someone who checks our schedule page regularly and wanted to pass along what they knew. But otherwise, it is a lot of digging on my own and to be honest and getting a little lucky sometimes.

I'm sure the other guys at WBR think I am crazy trying to put all of this together every year, but it is interesting to see how the schedules come together and a great thing to do to help a lot of people out. Everyone on the different MVC team message boards ask about this stuff over and over every summer, so I thought why not compile it in one place so things don't have to be re-hashed.

So, no secrets, just some digging and some help every once in a while.

So ISU's schedule isn't going to be any better this year?

Actually the cancun challenge alone makes our schedule better than last years, however, I would hate to see us put all of our eggs in one basket and get one more solid game on the schedule. I would be happy with that and in my opinion would make our schedule 20x better than it has been the last 3 years.

It may be better overall, but season ticket holders should still be pissed about the out of conference home games.
