It appears his recruiting was picking up some steam over the last couple months. I think we will be very glad he commited to the Shocks early and hope we get his signature quickly in November.

He said it was important for him to go somewhere like Duke, where basketball means a lot.
Random MVCFans.com member, circa 2007: "Gregg Marshall is in over his head in this conference."

Usually I'm pretty darned good with worthless classic TV trivia, including shows like Hazel and car 54 Where are you. that said, I am having a hard time making the connection.

Does Van Vleet wear wingtips? I understand he and Fred MacMurray share the same fist name, but to me that's a jump. Does Van Vleet have a much younger stepsister named Dodie? Does he have an Uncle Charlie? Going further back, does a Bub live in his house? Does a Robbie, Chip or Ernie live in the Van Vleet house?

For the record, William Frawley is one of the better TV actors, ever. that's not my opinion, it's an undeniable fact. Burt Mustin was the best, no question, it's not even close, but William Frawley is in the absolute top 10.

:huh: Now I'm lost but that's because I'm sure most (or all) of those shows were canceled and off-air before i was even born

Van Vleet seems to be having a pretty good summer. Here' just a smpling of what's coming out of the scouting services during the July evaluation period.

"Fred VanVleet was easily one of the most asked about players in this tournament. He has led Pryme Tyme to the semi-finals with wins over the Atlanta Celtics, Illinois Warriors, and Michigan Hurricanes. Van Vleet's handles are so pure and once he puts a defender in a trance with his skill Fred can create or hit with range. Wichita State got a pure steal."

@RyanJamesMN
Absulutely loving Fred Van Vleet. His handles are so good they just stun people and while people are shook he can blow by or pullup. Grade A

Pryne Tyme up 50-43 with six and a half left. Van Vleet is completely controlling this game. Ferrell is so good but Van Vleet is in control

Note: Ferrell is a 5 star top-25 player headed to Indiana

tchoopsczar
Wichita St got a good one in PG Fred Van Vleet. Just came up with a pair of slick assists for layups

Good grief. Van Vleet is just dominating a bad 2nd half. 4 or 5 ast plus a drive and a pullup.
"RyanJamesMNRyan James

Pryme Tyme, a team who wasnt in the super pools, beats Indy Elite 63 to 52. Van Vleet, MN fans think Tyus Jones, had 22pts 5rbs 6asts MVP"

Info on Tyus Jones:

@TheHoopsWindow
N.D. Kendrick
RT @tchoopsczar: PrymeTyme def Indiana Elite in 17 Platinum title game 63-52. Fred Van Vleet hands down tourney MVP #bestbuysummerclassic

Indiana Elite roster includes:
- 7'0" Obij Ajet (offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Mississippi and Missouri)
- Kevin "Yogi" Ferrell - 5-star Indiana commit (23 overall rank)
- Jeremy Hollowell - 6'7" 4-star Indiana commit (52 overall)
- Hanner Perea - 6'8" 5-star (15 overall rank) Indiana commit
- Ron Patterson - 6'3" 3-star Indiana commit (127 overall)

Indiana's recruiting class is ranked $1

Here's a video of Van Vleethttp://shockerhoops.net/fred-van-vleet-video/

"Van Vleet faced off against five star guard Kevin Ferrell, 2013's number one prospect Andrew Harrison, C.J. Reese, and others and Van Vleet out performed them all."

This is from scouting services watching the summer camps, and not hype from WSU fans.

VanVleet's AAU team, PrymeTyme Youth, won the Silver bracket championship in Orlando. The game should still be viewable on ESPN3.com.

Looks like the SHocks got a good one. Lack of a solid PG option hurt WSU last year, perhaps Van Vleet can be more Clevin Hannah and help run the show.

Appears to be a solid get, but I remember when Kenny Manigult was going to be the next coming and then he hit the backboard more than the rim with his shots.

Gotta hope there's not too much overhype.

Baller, if you've seen him play you'd have little doubt. He has hoop smarts beyond his years and ball control you can bank on. Manigault had (has) potential but he had no proven adeptness for the game. Fred is for real. Not saying he is certain to be great, though he might be. I am saying he is good already and will be a contributor early and often.
