How can it seem like KeyWest Bear knows what he's talking about when he was the source behind the CUSA hysteria? It would seem more like he's taking a lot of liberties with the information he may have.

No, the basketball player and a random guy on twitter were responsible for the CUSA craziness.

KeyWest called a few things, most significantly being JQH about a month before it was announced and then Zo leaving the day before it was announced. He obviously has some insight. But you're right, sometimes it's best to keep that stuff off the interweb

In the C-USA topic he also called "Rumor is true, but timeline is off." You just keep picking and choosing what you want to pay attention to.

This situation is very fluid. KeyWest has been right more often than not. Sometimes situations change, KeyWest can't be faulted for that. A few months ago there were a lot of people saying this MSU to CUSA stuff. I don't think that many people simultaneously made up a rumor. Odds are that there was something to it, but that it is just not the time to announce it. Maybe it'll be a few years, but odds are that there is something there.

Casey, what are you smoking in that pipe you have there? I don't know what it is you have but I want some of it. Pass it on down.

If MoSt is going to the Big12 (-3 & soon to be more) then my beloved ISU will be heading to the NFL & NBA. KeyWest told me.

"A lot of people saying it" are often tied to the initial rumor. That is, one person's mis-application of information can lead to "lot's of people are saying the same thing."

I realize things of this nature can be fluid, but I have a hard time believing any MVC program would be targeted for association with any current BCS-member school. That's not to say that at some point they (ie. Iowa St. K-State, et al) won't find themselves in a position that they must consider a conference with the likes of MSU/WSU/CU, but that time isn't now. And as quickly as this stuff is happening, I don't believe anyone is currently thinking of how to organize a conference with specific schools a few years from now, unless it's the MVC schools doing some dreaming.

Ugh is right champ. I was hoping this topic wouldn't make it from the bears board over here. Although if you look at the thread besides the one initial poster stating the rumor - most of the rest is just conjecture and wild speculation.

One thing I do believe to be true though. If the Big 12 really does blow up completely and the power conferences consolidate and realign even more - then there could be big changes for the mid major conferences like the MVC. If that happens possibilities could open up for a lot of the MVC teams. It could even ultimately make the MVC stronger if they took a proactive approach? or it could weaken us or blow us up completely.

What really has me confused is how can you buy into a guy, in Key West, in regards to everything that is going on in the world of Missouri St. business. Did you guys relocate the "Ridiculous Bear Conspiracy" Nat'l HQ?

...of course the big answer to my conundrum is: it's Casey....

The Valley is one of the most unlikely conferences to be affected by what's going on now.

Who's going to want WSU with their "we do something once or twice every quarter-century, but we've been doing that a long time" track record? Who's going to want CU's one-and-done track record in the NCAA's?

ny conference wanting to pick off a Valley school for basketball would be like the NBA drafting players on potential. The Valley has some schools with great potential - and some without that potential.

If anybody thinks any conference wants any Valley schools for their football programs, you are certifiable. UNI has a great FB program for their division, but they play in the "who's that" division. UNI could draw about 20,000 TV viewers other than the "I'm bored, who else is playing" viewers.

That's probably 1,000 times as many viewers as MSU could draw for what they put on the field that they call football. I'd wager that in SE Kansas and SW Missouri, Pittsburgh State (D2 in Kansas) has a better FB following and could get more TV viewers than MSU.

I agree with a lot of what you are saying Argh. Particularly regarding football. But if some basketball only conferences really happen I think that opens up some possibilities and there are a few MVC teams that might be targeted.

It's not all about wins and losses as someone else pointed out. WSU and CU have excellent attendance and community support. And MSU attendance and support has really trended up the last few years (I know, I know we play football too). And all 3 programs have pretty decent track records of w/l success. Especially CU. If several of our more successful teams are plucked away I think that changes the MVC pretty drastically.

I'm not predicting any big changes for the MVC but it would be naive to think it couldn't happen.

well things just got really interesting with 'Cuse and Pitt being accepted to the ACC. With the Big East needing a couple more schools I would like to think an invite might be sent out to Temple and Memphis this time. That could very well end up effecting the MVC.
