well things just got really interesting with 'Cuse and Pitt being accepted to the ACC. With the Big East needing a couple more schools I would like to think an invite might be sent out to Temple and Memphis this time. That could very well end up effecting the MVC.

I have to revise my initial hypothesis - that the ACC would be cannibalized. Now that Syracuse and Pitt have joined the ACC, I would think they'd go to 16 eventually. For fun, let's add UCONN and Rutgers.

The Big East would then have only 4 remaining football schools - West Virginia, Cincinnati, South Florida, and Louisville. If you entertain the notion that the SEC will add further by adding Missouri or West Virginia, the Big East is probably unable to get back to 12 football playing schools. Would the remaining basketball schools be looking to add to what remains of the Big East and keep the league together? I assume they would try and raid the A10 for Temple and Xavier, maybe Umass or Charlotte. Don't forget the CAA either in this as schools like VCU and George Mason could be attractive to the Big East.

This is really a fascinating time in college athletics. I don't think the MVC will be impacted, but it seems that there is a surprise every day so who knows?

UConn is "aggressively pursruing" membership in the ACC now. Can't say I blame them.

Sounds like Pac-12 is preparing to add Oklahoma, Okie State, Texas and Texas tech.

If the Big 12 wants to survive without 0U and Texas, they should start offering invites to Memphis, Cincinnati, Louisville and TCU. Not sure that does as much for football as you'd hope, but there are some respectable schools there. And if the Big East is falling apart, maybe they could pull something like this off. Not sure who else would be of interest or would be willing. Obviously, Arkansas is still a dream school for that conference but that's probably not going to happen anytime soon. If they could get the previous four mentioned they'd be OK. KU, KSU, ISU, MU, Baylor, Cincy, Memphis, TCU and L'Ville. That's only 9 but would be a start. Not sure there are any strong options to be had after that. Maybe just go after Colorado State or something.

If the Big 12 doesn't become aggressive they're done. And the fall back position of the Big East for a number of those schools isn't looking too good either. Does CUSA get aggressive and try to start picking off Big East or Big 12 schools looking for something else? Is the MTW in position to elevate itself by taking a few Big 12 schools? I have no idea, but it is kind of fun to watch

SubGod22 I think you are on to something there. Take KU, KSU, ISU, MU, Baylor, Cincy, Memphis, TCU and L'Ville like you said, and maybe try to get BYU, Air Force, and Boise State to get up to 12 and that would be a pretty decent conference.

I would feel bad for South Forida, but they are such a geographic outlier that it wouldn't make much sense. I question how much they really have helped the Big East gain attention in the Florida market anyway.

Don't think CUSA is in any position to pick anyone up. It would be the Big 12 picking up CUSA because of the TV deal they can keep with FOX which is why it would be the Big 12 absorbing the Big East schools if that were to happen

I was out of town from Friday through Monday. Saturday morning I passed through Springfield on my way to the triathlon in Branson. Sunday, I competed and Monday I returned home. having to catch up with work and everything else, I am at a loss for how much news came out this last weekend. My guess is that everything will begin to shake out around the bowl season. I was really keeping up on all of this and was fixated almost to the point where it was like watching a soap opera. Too much has happened too fast and now and it's like trying to watch what is going to happen with Luke and Laura, but they have both been off the show for years. God this stuff moved fast this weekend!
There are three rules that I live by, never get less than 12 hours sleep, never gamble with a guy who has the same first name as a city and never get involved with a chick with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Stick to that and everything else is gravy!

Here's my thought. I'm confident I'm at least as accurate as any of the pundits spouting all the various theories out there. What I mean by that is that no one - including myself - has a clue.

OU hates UT, but will stay in the B8+ if they (OU) have control. That would mean Beebe is fired - consider that a done deal. It also means the B8+ shares revenue from the LHN and gets significant content control.

UT needs to agree to that in a hurry. The next possibility is that OU, OSU, Mizzou, and aTm set up a package deal with the SEC. That would leave UT in a league with KU, KSU, ISU, Baylor, and TTech. Yikes! that's not an AQ lineup.

If UT backs off and lets OU do what they want to do, then the B8+ continues to exist - as a dysfunctional family worse than any Thanksgiving meal any of us have had with our own families. The B8+ would be about as attractive as the BEast for schools looking for a new conference.

Beebe out as Big 12 commish. I'm still wondering what the SEC does for adding a 14th team and whether or not Mizzou gets the invite.
