Bears depth in evidence as after having 5 in double figures in the 1st game, they had 4 last night, but two were different from the 1st game five. Corey Copeland continued to show the scoring ability we saw in summer league and that Zo often noted but never utilized last year with 17 pts including 4/5 from 3pt. Freshman Christian Kirk seems to have taken advantage of fellow frosh Drew Wilson's bad groin to move ahead of him and juco Corbin Thomas as one of the 1st off the bench and just missed a double/double with 10pts/9rbs. Juco pg Downing got his first action and displayed the quickness and athleticism that Bear fans are hoping for and scored 7 on a couple slick moves. But Bizoukas seems to have solidified for now his grasp on the starting pg job with a 10 assist, 1turnover nite. The Bears are going to run more and Michael has great vision down the court. I thought Jarmar Gulley again showed he will be an exciting replacement for Mallett when despite early foul trouble he had a quiet 8pts,6rbs and just shows alot of ability in traffic.

Jewell was better competition than Truman and we responded with better play also; next Sat in our final tuneup we will step it up another notch playing Missouri Southern on the road.

Does anyone else in the Valley play tonight?

Evansville beat Depauw today 81-52. This is the team that beat them last year in exibition, so it looks like UE is getting off to a better start this year.

This may be a first....a dancing banana for winning an exhibition game

Drake is down to 7 scholarship players for their exhibition game on Saturday.....and 4 of those 7 have missed some practice with injuries. The other three are freshmen. I'll use several dancing bananas if they win.

I know these 1st 2 were just exhibitions against inferior competition but I really like what I'm seeing from the Bears. Solid improvements in the games of the returning players and our 3 jucos, Biz, and Kirk all look ready to contribute.

It's really early but it's hard not to be excited after these 1st 2 games.

It's good to be excited for your team but not because of the results against two crappy low lever college teams. Improvement can only be measured against similar competition.

Come on glm, you know the MVC title has already been bequeathed to the Blue Jays. No enthusiasm allowed outside Omaha this year. Focusing on favorable early impressions about new non Bluejay players is tatamount to pissing on the McDermott's lawn.

glm and Bearz77 - what exactly do you disagree with? It is okay to be excited but it also means absolutely nothing. Lighten up or you'll be as paranoid as Sycs fans.
