57-41 Final, wasn't really close. Game can best be summed up by this stat: Anthony James 1-15. Really about sums it up, UNI couldn't make anything: lay-ups, jumpers, three-pointers-27% on the game. Competed decently on the boards-losing 42-34, which isn't bad considering how many shots they missed, only gave up 2 second chance points, reduced turnovers from 10 in the first half to only 4 after, forced 15 turnovers ourself.
Like the ODU result, not sure how much you can take from this game other than UNI will still be playing tough defense. Offense is going to be hit and miss depending on what kind of shooting night UNI is having. Anthony James may be the barometer all season as far as offense goes. A lot of new players working their way into the system, nice to see Pehl return to the court-at least adds some size.
1-1 on this opening road swing is not horrible, the results are somewhat schizophrenic, but it's a start and we have film to work with and let Jake and staff put things together. St. Mary's is a quality program and will compete with Gonzaga in the WCC, would have liked a closer result but it isn't like the loss we took at Iowa last year when we scored 39 and lost to a team that struggled to double-digit wins.
Come home for the first two of the South Padre, starting with NCAA qualifier Northern Colorado on Sunday.
