The thing with McDecommit is, is that he brings it every night. It doesn't seem like there is a single game that he doesn't have 20 and 10. Weems is good, but he's not great every single game.

Yessir. Consistency. That is the one area Doug has over Kyle. But it is key.

There's one really simple stat I like that's never kept - and that's points per shot.

Weems - 64 points on 77 shots = .83 points per shot taken
McDermott - 142 points on 92 shots = 1.54 points per shot taken

I have a feeling there's something about Lusk that is affecting Weems. That stuff happens with coaching changes.

That's impressive. Do we have a future all-american on our hands here?

Or his knee as has been mentioned, he was fine through exhibition then banged his leg up in Joplin and hasn't been the same since.

I have a feeling those numbers will be much closer in conference only with Weems on top. History says Weems is the more efficient scorer

I decided to ask Eamonn Brennan a question on his live chat.

Brian (IL)

Let's talk Missouri Valley. Is a multi-bid year possible? And how about that Doug McDermott?

Eamonn Brennan (2:37 PM)

McDermott is quietly putting himself in position to get looks for national player of the year awards. He's been brilliant. As for the MVC, I think Creighton, UNI, Wichita State and Indiana State have all looked like they'll be in the at-large mix in time for BracketBusters. Following league play in the Valley should be a lot of fun this season.

I'm going to throw this out there now. McDermott is Creightons version of Gordon Heyward. They both even have the baby faces too.

Nice stat Aargh.

One thing I've noticed about McDermott vis-a-vis Weems is that other fanbases don't hate McDermott (outside of UNI, but that is for a completely different reason) , whereas Weems' antics bring a lot of scorn. In this respect I kind of compare McDermott to Mullins of SIU - you hate that they are beating you, but the fact that they are always playing their ass off, yet don't talk a lot of smack causes you to respect the hell out of them. Maybe I'm wrong about this and some of the other fanbases (outside of UNI which has a perfectly reasonable reason for hating MCDermott IMO) will set me straight.

Weems, on the other hand, while a great player has some of that P'Allen/Jamar Howard in him that really serves as a lightening rod for anger by other fanbases.

Maybe more like Jimmer if his scoring figures increase every year.
