Obviously overlooked in these comparisons is that in head to head Kyle can guard and at least contain McDermott somewhat, but Doug can't guard an athletic guy from 20 feet in. McDermott is a great offensive rebounder and knows how to get position down low as well as anybody in the country, so he will get his points and rebounds even against good defense. But he can't create from 20 feet away against a athletic defender. And when the game was to be had in the last 3 minutes Kyle dominated McDermott.
McDermott is really really good, but right now the only important stat is 4-0 and 1-0; that's head to head MSU vs CU with the two on the floor, and the number of rings on Kyle's hand vs McDermotts. I'm sure Doug will get his, but maybe now he'll have to do that first before the rush to judgement starts again.
