Until given a reason not to, I'll take Weems over McD every time.

Weems looks like too much of a "tweener". Not tall enough to play SF. He might get a shot as a SG. I have quickness questions. 6'4" NBA SG's really, really quick and can slash and drive on players quicker than Weems.

I've been on record as saying I think he'll make it in the NBA. But I do have some of the same concerns. You are right in that he's not as quick as most shooting guards. But on the flip side he's got decent quickness and is definitely stronger than most shooting guards. And there have been quite a few "tweeners" that have made it. Rick Fox comes to mind for one. No guarantees but I think he's got a shot.

Just as interesting is McDermott's NBA potential. Can he make it? He's got a great offensive game. But he would be a defensive liability at this point. And can he score inside in the NBA? It doesn't seem like he would be able to. But it's truly amazing how easily he scores in the paint at the D1 level so I don't know. Offensively he truly is somewhat like Larry Bird and Bird could score on anyone including much bigger more athletic players.

2 of the better Valley players in recent memory. I hope they both make it.

Defense in the NBA? I don't think you have to be good at defense to play pro ball

You'd be wrong. It might look like they don't play much defense in the NBA but that's because the players are so skilled offensively. Sure there are some run and gun teams. But the ones that win championships are almost always the ones that stress defense. Teams like the Spurs, Celtics (since Garnett arrived), Bulls (MJ's Bulls), etc.

I don't know who is the best player, I do know that one wants the ball with game on the line and the other went and hid in the corner.

Hid in the corner????? :Bam:

One game dude...and he still had a double double. Weems had his best night ever I believe. Long season and I would bet you most would take McDermott.

I have to wonder if some of these fellas bought Jake Odum jerseys last March?
