In all seriousness, really great effort by UE. I didn't think they had a chance the way the game started, but they battled back. I am really looking forward to the Aces-Shox game.

On the other side, what is going on with UNI? They started as well as anyone in the Valley and have now lost three straight games.

Isn't it a strange twist of fate that the Black and Yellow visit the Purple and White this week? You'd think someone intelligently designed the schedule.

It will certainly be a bloodbath Wednesday evening. Black and gold bloodshed, courtesy of the streaking Aces. MartyBall lives and is in 1st place!

Especially when the player isn't even looking for anybody else. At the time I ripped Ryan he had taken about three consecutive off balance, well contested sots early in the shot clock. He didn't look for his teammates, although they were playing very well.

Your comments seem to justify taking any shot at any time. That is remarkably short sighted and I contend that every single coach at every single level would disagree.

BTW, my TV is 60 inches.

Predictions:

1.) A lot more Aces fans will be posting on MVCfans this week.
2.) Northern Iowa may not be quite as good as their record indicates.

Regardless, this was another poor result for the Valley. A near 200 RPI team is now tied for first in the conference. Definitely a two-bidder now, if we're lucky.

But of course, this is only game 2. A couple of particular Aces fans rather chirpy tonight. We'll see how long that lasts.

Baller, your basketball anaysis is amazing. It really is. You actually believe that RPI determines the winner and loser of a game. We should then stop the season after non-conference and award MVC Conference Standings based on RPI, right?

We play the game BEFORE making a mark in the win and loss column because we do not know who is going to win the game.

The chirpiness comes from fans of "also ran" teams tired of the "obnoxiousness" from 2-3 posters who never learn to "let it go." Take a cue from the Shockers inability to live up to their previous billing in past seasons. Take a cue from the SIU Nation. Humility is a trait you should observe.

Now you have qualified when you made your comments and I understand.

The coach either trusts the star player or he does not. The team's best player will make bonehead plays and will take ill advised shots, sometimes.

Remember that the tv viewer has a better view of the floor, the movement, and the flow of the game then the player with the ball in his hand.

Good question regarding UNI. I really thought Tuttle and Pehl were giving them a good inside presence. But that doesn't seem to be the case lately. But UNI is a lot like MSU due to both having so many new and young players. There's bound to be some ups and downs.

Good game EU. Ryan is a stud. The posters knocking him are really embarrassing themselves tonight. 29 points in one half is nearly impossible in the MVC.

This was a must win for UNI and they didn't get it done. Starting 0-2 along with a home loss is going to be very tough to overcome. We have a very young team so I expected some inconsistency this year, but this is a game I expected us to win easily. The last time EU beat us in Cedar Falls was 2000.

I was fortunate to see Larry Bird many times during his career at ISUb and the one thing that stood out is that he took control of games when it was needed Every team needs that one person who can make the difference and the Aces have Colt Ryan. No team can be successful without without the other players doing their jobs and picking up their games too, but there are few who consistently win without a leader.

Records set tonight:

"UE's Colt Ryan set a McLeod Center record for most free throws made without a miss at 14-for-14 ... it was also the most free throws made by an opponent in the McLeod Center ... Evansville's 24 made free throws is also a Mcleod Center record for an opponent ... Evansville's 11 steals set a McLeod Center record for an opponent"
