Fanbase-miles traveled based on those ticket numbers:

Creighton 885,225
Wichita State 514,488
Northern Iowa 173,000
Illinois State 58,800
Missouri State 54,250
Drake 40,020
Bradley 33,600
Indiana State 33,600
Evansville 15,048
Southern Illinois 14,550

Calculation is number of pre-sale tickets sold times number of miles by car from the school's city (Cedar Falls, Omaha, Peoria, etc) to St. Louis and is one-way only.

To CU and WSU fans: Holy Alec Baldwin, that's a lot of miles!

"The school already has sold 2,035 all-session tickets for the March 1 to 4 tournament at the Scottrade Center. According to the league office, Creighton has sold 861 more than Wichita State, which has sold 1,164. Creighton’s total exceeds the total sold by the eight other Valley schools by almost 400."

Again the two teams that have the farthest to travel will have the most fans there. Missouri St. sales are sad, and don't give me that "we have alumni in St. Lou who buy at the last minute" song, where are all the fans from Springfield?

We don't NEED to buy all-session tickets because our fans don't all have to make a vacation out of the thing. It's such an easy drive, almost all fans just go up for the Semis and Finals if the Bears are playing and don't 'waste' their money if we aren't playing.

To me, this is just a sad statement. And I'm not calling out Bears fans, just the whole only go watch your team mentality. Why? I have only been to a couple of games in St Louis, and it was because I was on business at the time. With five kids, I don't have the time, nor the luxury to spend a weekend in St Louis. That said, if I were going to attend, I would attend all games. Not just the games that interested me, but all games. If I buy an all session pass, I'll be at every session. I went to every game when the NCAA's were in Omaha, every one of them. Not just Kansas because they were good and not just USC because they have the hottest cheerleaders in the world, I watched them all, UNLV, K State, Portland State, Kent State, Fullerton and Wisconsin. I will go to every one this spring as well. I buy those tickets to watch basketball, not just "my" team play basketball. Regardless of your fan support, if you have been following the Valley throughout the season, given the chance, why not watch the whole soap opera as it concludes? If you haven't done it, try it, you'll be glad you did!

I know people will disagree with me, but I also know there are some on this board that do attend every game. I don't understand the, "My team lost, so I'm packing up and going home" mentality. If you bought the tickets, go to the damn games! In reality, I'm saddened that I don't have the luxury to attend, I'm jealous of those that get to go and it pisses me off when I hear of people buying all session passes and not caring enough to use them for every game.

End of rant.

Regarding going to all the arch madness games vs just your teams games: All fans are different. We each support our own teams first and foremost but that's really the only common denominator. Beyond that some fans are the type that will watch any b-ball game at any time. Some are interested in all things regarding the MVC. And some really couldn't care less about other MVC teams other than their own.

Are any of those points of view wrong? i don't think so. They are just different. My job and involvement with my kids doesn't allow me to go to the MVC tournament. I would like to go sometime. But when/if I attend I would have trouble watching ALL of the games. I obviously have a passing interest in all the MVC teams or I wouldn't spend time on this site. But sitting game after game is a different proposition.

You're damn right. The overrated USC Song Girls are the fourth- or fifth-best looking cheerleaders in the Pac-12.

I don't know about that, but i know they weren't even the best looking cheerleaders in town that year. UNLV's cheerleaders were the best I've seen anywhere. I suspect they probably all have part time employment that involves a pole, but DAMN, they were smokin'.

I hope UNLV gets sent to Omaha again....

I agree that the UNLV cheerleaders were smoking hot, but they were overtly slutty hot. The USC cheerleaders, with their white USC soft and fluffy tops were "My Angel is a Centerfold," hot. Two different types of hot.

The dumbest thing there was that stupid Kansas State Powercat thing. Just stupid. If you're spending the money to buy a fiberglass head and covering it with fur, finish the damn thing out with a mascot uniform. Having this big head and wearing last year's basketball or football uniform just looks low rent, high schoolish and idiotic.

The last two years I've bought all session passes....however, I've decided against doing that ever again.

I can go down there and get session tickets cheaper than I can get all session tickets.

Couple that with the fact that my wife doesn't want to watch every single game and I have no reason to buy 2 all session passes. If it were just me, I'd be at every game...but it isn't. My wife and I, due to work schedules, don't get a lot of time/weekends together. We use it as a vacation that just happens to be at the same place UNI is playing.

The fact that single game tickets are cheap enough that people would consider buying two or three single game tickets vs. an All Session Pass tells me that the MVC is pricing all of this stuff wrong. Either the single game tickets are too low or the All Session Passes are too high. Also, I understand the whole wife thing. When I do attend events like that, I just leave her at home. I wish she would appreciate this stuff, but she doesn't. It is also one of the big barriers keeping me from spending the weekend in St. Louis.

I used to own tickets to the CWS, I rarely attended. At the same time, I know lots and lots of people that still own them, they go to every single game regardless of who is playing. They don't even follow college baseball, but they pick it up quickly when the CWS arrives. They can tell you the entire storyline of the tournament, from coaches getting tossed, to the umps that make bad calls, to the feel good stories from the kids competing. You can't get that by just attending a game or two. You get that by watching the whole thing unfold.
