The Bears were probably the better team, but hard to overcome a missed three second call which was more likely a 12 second violation, a couple missed obvious travels, and an official not granting a timeout. And all in the last ten seconds of a well played classical Valley ballgame. Those three need to be suspended. If I was Lusk I would probably be in a Cedarloo jail right now.

It's a darn shame that nobody will be discussing another classic MSU/UNI game instead all the talk is about officiating. Fix it Elgin and bring some accountability to the stooges with whistles.

Had you're all world player not charged through a UNI player on the possession before this wouldn't be an issue...

It took a career game from your center (people say UNI players look unathletic, what does this guy look like if UNI players look like church league players) to even be in the game.

Oh, and I'm glad we didn't land Bizoukis....what a waste of space on the floor tonight.

Classy comments from a uni fan. Especially after a win.

If you don't think Biz can play just because he's not a great shooter then you just don't know much about basketball. And it's true that Patterson isn't the most athletic player. But a 6'11" player with a shooting touch and range like he's got?? Any team in the Valley would take him and play him. It was a career scoring night for him but he's had several similar games this year. He was our leading scorer through the 1st 5 or 6 games.

HA. If we got within a few inches of your players they flopped like crazy.

I need to let Drake's coach know that you can call a free throw after any made shot. That might really help down the stretch.

The one thing I took away from watching the game is that I really don't like watching UNI play. Ugly basketball, and with the talent infusion in the league this year, I don't know if the slow down, jersey grabbing techniques are going to get them into the top three or four. UNI got very lucky.

I'm a little surprised by this comment because last night coach Jake was consistently motioning for our players to hurry the ball up the court and has placed an emphasis all year on getting out in transition.

The days of UNI always taking a shot during the last 10 seconds of the shot clock and grinding out 51-55 type games are probably over. This is the highest scoring UNI team in the Ben Jacobson era at 68 PPG and is easily capable of putting up 80+ when our offense is clicking.

Now the defensive pressure will always be a staple at UNI and fans of other teams will always complain about it. This is nothing unique to UNI or the MVC. Big 10 fans constantly whine about Purdue and MSU similar to the way MVC fans used to bellyache about SIU's style.

This is just like the Iowa fans after our game against them. Make a youtube video of one cherry picked play. Seriously go back and watch the game, and tell me how many more times MSU flopped compared to how many times we did. And that time you guy was out of control, and almost knocked down 3 UNI players. There was one time when whoever was defending Koch flopped worse than ANY I have seen out of UNI this year.

Edit: Here is MSU flopping! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0PCJAd8 ... AAAAAAAAAA

All teams flop. Whether you like it or not half of the time your team takes a charge they are flopping. And that is not just in this game it would be in any game. The same goes for my team, and any other team in the MVC or NCAA.

To expand on this point a little bit. We have only won 1 game where we didn't score at least 60. And we have only scored under 60 three time, and two of those were 59. But no we don't score 80 a game like Wichita and Creighton. But I would rather we score 60 and win than try and run and lose game scoring in the 80s. We do what works for us. And guess what MVJ you don't have to watch us play if you don't want to.

The game was lost because Gulley couldn't hit anything anywhere near normal. Patterson is a GREAT shooter who is easy to shut down if focus is given to him. Weems' charge was a moot point because he turned it over on the pass. Anyone who thinks refs are gonna call a foul in the final seconds on any contact as minor as was exhibited on the last play is silly. Anyone that thinks Jake and Chip didn't both travel is silly. Lusk and the players should have all called timeout but it likely wouldn't have mattered with 2 secs. Any UNI fans that think they are better off without Bizoukas has mental problems. Typical UNI-MSU game. If Gulley is anywhere near normal, Bears win easily (he missed several easy shots that the defense had no affect on. Falling backwards when taking a charge isn't flopping, throwing yourself backwards on minor contact while yelling for attention is flopping. The only charge call I thought was even questionable was the one on Weems at the end (thought the contact wasn't significant) but as I said it was a moot issue.

Congrats cats......you won.....end of conversation

As a neutral observer, they did not call a clear 3 second violation on the last play. I don't know who was down low, but he entered the lane with 7.9 seconds and never left while Chip fumbled around with the ball, a full five seconds. I assume refs chose to ignore it since he didn't figure into the play. But, MSU had no business allowing the game to come down to that play. Tough loss for MSU. Winning at CU and UNI would have really had them in the driver's seat.

It just looks really bad for the league, when Nationsl sports writers call it a "sham" and "travelsty". The MVC loses credibility with last nights game.
