I'm not aware of that language appearing in any formal criteria.

The MVC site doesn't list criteria, but they do list finalist and their OOC and MVC stats. What the voters use as their criteria will be important to the results. FWIW, Stutz is second to last in steals and third to last in assists (but first in fewest TOs). Doug McD is worse in all three categories. With Garrett's recent 3 point surge, he's shooting a higher % from 3 as well...in fact, the only stat Doug is beating Garrett in is points.

And coaches...who do you think that will favor?

That is the criteria, I remember one of the voters last year talking about how it changed his opinion. (believe it was Todd Golden)

Link please (to the actual criteria, not to a story about why a writer decided to vote a particular way).

The whole award turned into a joke a long time ago. It is (and has been for some time) a simple picking of the best player on the first place team. There is a whole litany of examples of people who won the award that were not the best player in the conference. I just don't understand why the league keeps up the pretense of the award being a selection of the best player in the league.

The same thing is true for COY.

Maybe having seen Stutz struggled in both games against me has left me a little biased, but if we were picking the best player on WSU, I'd go with Murray or Ragland over Stutz....

Yeah you're biased. I'd pick Greg E for Ceeighton. Stutz was in foul trouble in both CU games, but Greg did outplay him. Now, find me one more MVC game where Stutz was outplayed.

Now that youre boy isn't a lock, I think it's really big of you to belittle the award. Thanks for clarifying that!

Stutz got in foul trouble because Echenique outplayed him.

No...Stutz got in foul trouble because GS isn't allowed to breathe...GE also happened to outplay him. Ah who cares! It's just a stupid dumb award anyway. Plus, the real conference champion is determined in St Louis. Quit crying!

I just have a problem giving the POY award to the biggest defensive liability in the league. I don't know about shocker fans, but as a Bears fan it sure was fun watching Stutz and Patterson go at it last night. Best MVC post play I have seen. You just can't say that about McD he can score and rebound but that is about it.
