Alabama A&M, Nicholls State, Texas Southern, UMKC, and Chicago State were not national powerhouses last time I checked. I have enough respect for their players and coaches not to call them "lousy." Also, they just might beat you.
The Maui Invitational, a great event, gives the Shockers a chance to make a statement early on. Do you think Connecticut, Michigan State, Kentucky, or Oklahoma would have played you in a one and one return on an equal basis situation? Nope. Their fans see WSU as a "mid-major" and may view you as a "lousy" game, too,
C'mon, basketball is basketball. Respect your opponent. Beat him on the court. Do not denigrate him behind a false name on a basketball board.
I bet WSU loses to at least one of its "gimmee opponents." Do you want that bet?
The reason you get Butler, Indiana, and UNC is because you're "lousy." Do you think it's because you're above WSU? I'm not following your reasoning stating that the reason we don't get those type of games is because we're mid-major.
No sir, wrong logic trail.
My point is "lousy" is relative. "Lousy" is in the eyes of the beholder. Earlier I stated that I spend much of my time at work defending "lousy WSU basketball" as I talk to University of Kansas and Kansas State University fans. They do not respect your school or your basketball program because they are considered to be "better than you." Just like so many posters look down their nose at Evansville because they believe that they are better than us. Last, the BCS schools you are playing at the Maui Invitational would never play you in a one on one, equal exchange because you are beneath them. We need to stop the xick measuring contests and understand that basketball is basketball and some programs are stronger than others, and that is ok.
