I would think a solid BCS job where basketball is as important or nearly as important as football would be his next step if he took one.

I just can't see him moving to a historically bad, underfunded basketball program is that is drastically overshadowed by football and even baseball teams.

Well that eliminates virtually every team in the South (other than Duke, UNC, and UK), where he supposedly wants to end up sometime.

You could have said that about Shaka Smart last year. He is supposedly a front runner for the Illinois position.

Wichita State will be down some next year, but not that much. And with the players in the system and recruits committed, any prospective AD will see that WSU is reloading next year, not rebuilding.

There has been people predicting Marshall will leave every year he has been at WSU. Two of those years, his teams were playing on Thursday in St Louis. I don't see his stock going down much next year.

I don't believe he will leave this year because he has characterized the incoming class of recruits as his best class ever. He has been quite open and gleeful about the '12-'13 class.

I think Marshall is a proven program builder and that Smart is a rising star who has yet to prove he can sustain a program. I hope that VCU wins at least 3 games during the tournament.
There is no difference between basketball and life. Give both your best and ignore the "fans" on the sideline.

Shaka took over a senior-laden team and took it to the NCAA and made the Final Four.

He then brought in a bunch of youngsters and won the conference and qualified for the NCAA's again.

He is probably able to command a greater amount this year than he would have last year with the Final Four since he was able to get back again with a team that turned over personnel.

If Gregg can make a run this year, he can command some coin. If he comes back next year and gets back to the NCAA, he will really be able to cash in if he wants to.

Are the UNI fanatics worried about losing Jacobson?

Is the current cost cutting effort at UNI hurting Men's BB? I know there are some very upset faculty, can't be a fun environment currently.

The faculty are pissy because they fail to realize Jake's salary is paid for through private funding channels...UNI foots almost zero of his contract. The cuts at UNI save tens of thousands of dollars, yet less than 2% of yearly graduates at UNI are affected.

UNI basketball makes money, and football is right on the edge of making money (and by the looks of it will this year).

The only two jobs that worry most UNI fans are Wisconsin and Minnesota....Not that other jobs won't/can't lure Jake, but those are the two that seem most "scary"

Article on Gregg Marshall that speaks quite a bit about his competitiveness/abrasive personality and his liklihood to stay at WSU:

http://www.kansas.com/2012/03/10/225048 ... halls.html

If you skip down to the part of the article titled "Subhead here, here," there are some positive yet realistic quotes about his job future.
