Creighton to A-10?

Recent article links Creighton to possible A-10 expansion. Can't see it happening unless the A-10 adds a couple more midwest schools along w/Butler, SLU, Dayton and Xavier to help reduce travel and split the A-10 into two divisions. SLU message boards says that CU has inquired about joining the A-10.....

Seems like that would be a good move for the Bluejays. What says Creighton fans?

We'd lose our a$$ in the minor sports on the geography front. However, the schools in that league are a far better fit with smaller private schools the norm. Our recruiting focus would also need to shift east.

There may also be more NCAA basketball money with multiple bids but someone would have to do the math on 16 teams versus 10 in the MVC to determine how many A-10 bids equals MVC bids when dividing up the dough. That person won't be me.

I've been talking about this possibility for awhile.

The schools that are in the A-10 are much more similar to Creighton than the other MVC schools. I also like that most of the A-10 schools don't play football, which means their resources aren't being drained like a sieve and/or they aren't plotting their move to the FBS level. Football will ultimately destroy this conference one way or another. Either the FB schools will leave the MVC to play FBS football somewhere else or the money lost on FB will keep them from investing/growing their other programs, creating an ever growing divide between the haves and the have nots.

Ultimately, I don't think CU will get invited to the A10 because east coast schools don't want to travel all the way to Omaha. I would love to see it happen, but perhaps with a MVC school or two coming with us.

Sorta like blaming Elgin that Butler is interested in the A-10 instead of the Valley. I'm not a big fan of Elgin but there is nothing he can do if the A-10 invites CU.

*Fordham may be planning a move back to the Patriot League after leading a move for the league to begin offering scholarships

*Seton Hall and Hofstra have been linked with the A-10 in the past, but doesn't help the geography issue for a Creighton

Creighton has to look at this deal. Shox have to be looking at other opportunites also.

elgin & the Valley should have been progressively looking to add bigger market teams the past few years.
