I don't doubt this in the least. The issue is that at some point, perhaps not too soon, he may run out of things he can do.

is the UNI men's bb budget in the top half of the MVC?

Jake is paid very well, his assistants are paid well, and UNI has fantastic facilities.

DJA... For starters, link to Clark McLeod's personal bankrupcy? As for the company, it wasn't the only dot com bubble that burst in the past decade. It's been spun off a few times and is still employing hundreds in the Cedar Rapids area. As for the budget, I don't know how it compares to other schools. If you look at our success the past 10 years across two different coaches, I would say the school has prioritized insulating basketball from the cuts that our university (and realistically most universities) are facing. It's as if you are constantly asking UNI fans to prove the sky is not falling --- meanwhile we continue to win.

I haven't said anywhere that UNI hasn't done really well the last decade. However, the successes of the last decade are irrelevant moving forward - just ask SIU. Plus, those successes didn't keep UNI from having to drop baseball.

Significant monetary pressures by the Iowa legislature have only been a major issue the last two years or so. More importantly, they appear to be continuing for the indefinite future, including this very year. If I keep asking about the financial issues, it is only because they keep making the news. Based on my viewing of Panthernation, it would hardly appear as though I am the only person who is concerned. You keep acting like the financial issues are no big deal, but everything I read in the newspapers and even on your own message board seem to indicate otherwise.

I'm not saying money isn't a problem, I'm just saying it's not a big problem for basketball. I think the decision about baseball and requiring the football team to occasionally take a second money game help to prove that. They seem to have made the decision that basketball is "hands off" and it's up to the rest of the department to make cuts or find additional revenue sources. I'm sure we don't have the biggest basketball budget, but I'm also sure it's not the smallest. I agree that we will eventually have some down years again like SIU. It happens to every school (except the Duke's, Kentucky's, etc.). Who would have predicted we would still be going strong today back in 2004 or 2005 though?

Rumor right now is that Frank Martin will be announced as the next coach of South Carolina as soon as tomorrow.

Very possible that Jank could have a realistic chance at the K-State job if there is an opening. Even with returning everyone next year, that position is likely a destination job for Jank. Would be pretty tough to see him pass it up if he is offered.

There is no difference between basketball and life. Give both your best and ignore the "fans" on the sideline.

I don't think KSU brings in a KU guy.

Jank is actually a former KSU player. He just got his experience in the Big12 under Self. Andy Katz was quoted yesterday on Sportcenter as saying Jank would be a top candidate because of the two things I mentioned above along with having previous head coaching experience. he said his experience under Self gave him the experience of knowing what is needed to win in the big12.

that would be funny if Jank got the job. KSU fans don't want Jank, they want a HR hire and they think they are above having to hire a MVC coach.
