Creighton has clearly had the best past 10 years of any MVC team. My point was just to show that WSU has clearly faired better (on average) than UNI over both the past 3 years and the past 10 years. THAT was the comparison being made in this thread.

I'm pretty sure my numbers are correct. I believe the difference in time periods (including this year or not, going back beyond 10 years or not, etc.) are the reason for the descrepancies.

Ban him if you want, but don't lock the thread. It is the most unintentionally funny thing I've seen since stumbling across that show on cable where they hunt for Bigfoot.

Basically, the boast being made in this thread is like bragging about paying $2,000 for a can of Diet Coke. It may make you feel important, but everyone you tell just laughs their a$$ off.

Five years - one NCAA appearance, two MVC tournament play-in-game appearances, zero NCAA tournament victories, one regular season title, zero conference tourney titles, one MVC tournament ejection. I can see why Marshall stays in Wichita --- Much better resumes get coaches fired at places like Illinois.

Congratulations are certainly in order....but they go to Marshall. To get WSU to pay you that sort of coin with those results is amazing. Congrats Coach Marshal!

Marshall has turned down $2,000,000.00 to coach in the Big 10 and $1,900,000.00 to coach in the ACC. He is currently coaching in the WVC for $1,482,000.00. We are getting a HELLUVA deal!

P.S.

DoubleBJ, you don't wear the color green very well... :Violin:

Since DJA brought up stumbling across funny stuff on cable, there is another thread that veered off course from being about Creighton possibly moving conferences to the merits of ESPN3 and this thread is already an etc fail, I will suggest checking out one of the funniest internet streams I ever stumbled across. Search Netflix for the Trailer Park Boys. I found it by accident last summer and it is hilarious! It is a Canadian mocumentary about three guys. Two of my favorite episodes are A Dope Trailer is No Place For a Kitty and the other is A Sh*t Leapard Can't Change His Spots.

My wife absolutely won't watch it, so you know its good! Anyway, those with Netflix check it out.
There are three rules that I live by, never get less than 12 hours sleep, never gamble with a guy who has the same first name as a city and never get involved with a chick with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Stick to that and everything else is gravy!

DoubleJay, you aren't being honest with your argument. You know exactly what state Turgeon left the program in when he left... a losing MVC record and several core seniors graduating. Marshall then showed up and had one of his initial recruits die the summer before season 1.

Marshall has not had 5 amazing years, but the job he has done repairing the program would be cheered by fans of any MVC school if they found themselves where WSU was 5 years ago. I agree that Cold is overdoing it, but please don't go to the other extreme. I know that you know what you are saying is meant to "win a message board argument" more than it is meant to be "intellectually honest". You are better than that.

I kind of like the fact that they paid $55K per win, not quite as much as SIU was willing to shell out per win, but still impressive. UNI has to make do at $25K per win with Jacobson.

PorkTornado wrote:Finally, here is overall records since 2000 (again, add whatever your team's record was this year if you'd like to know where it stands after the season):

Creighton 251-114 .688
Southern Illinois 230-127 .644
Wichita State 211-145 .593
Northern Iowa 206-144 .589
Missouri State 207-147 .585
Illinois State 180-161 .528
Bradley 182-172 .514
Drake 162-175 .481
Indiana State 144-197 .422
Evansville 126-200 .38

So, from this we are to conclude that SIU is a dominant Valley team?

These things can go about any way a poster wants them to go - just pick the right time frame.

I especially like the one that gives the team's records for the last 3 years, but doesn't include this year. That's gotta be the pinnacle of picking a time frame. You might want to label that one 2009-2011 instead of "the last 3 years".
