Great Great sign for WSU!

Overall, I'm REAL excited for this class coming in this next season. Fred Van Vleet (4*), Teddy Hawkins (3*), Cleanthony Early ( 2time NJCAA first team in DIV3), Nick Wiggins ( 2nd team NJCAA for DIV 1&2), Henry Uwadiae (If i remember right, ranked as a 2*) and Derail Green (coming from the same high school as Toure).

Also eligible to play this season, Malcolm Armstead (Oregon transfer) and Joe Mitchell (Ohio transfer).

Man...the Shox just reload.

Do they have like 20 scholarships? :)

Anacreon is leaving WSU. Mitchell is a walk on. . .

So scholarship players look like:
Orupke (SR), Uwadiae (FR), Hall (SR), White (SO), Early (JR), Green (FR), Hawkins (FR), Wiggins (JR), Wessel (SO), Cotton (SO), Williams (SR), Armstead (SR), Van Vleet (FR). . . Also another walk on is Randall Vautravers. This leaves Ron Baker, who redshirted this year, supposedly he was to redshirt his freshmen year and than receive scholarship his second year, not for sure what the whole deal with this is.

I believe i got all of the players covered.

It has been widely speculated that Armstead was a walk-on this year and will be on scholarship next year. That has not been published anywhere and he may in fact pay his own way next year. Why would he leave his scholarship at Oregon to be a walk-on at WSU? Did Altman run off his starting PG and pre-season first team All Pac-12 player?

Mitchell was published as a walk-on. That's a little more understandable for a Wichita kid (even though he was a JUCO AA) to leave his schollie on the table at Ohio and come home.

It has been published that Baker would pay his own way as a freshman and would receive financial aid as a sophomore, but he's a Kansas kid and we were his only D-I scholarship offer other than one of the Dakota State's.

Wessel is on scholarship, but his family are big time Shocker supporters and he was an early committment. Not sure what his status will be.

Hawkins and Henry U are still uncertain as to whether or not they will meet the NCAA clearinghouse requirements. Hawkins has the potential to be a big loss to the Shockers if he doesn't make grades/scores. There are others that can replace him, but he is very talented.

Quick rundown on Wiggins:

6'6" SG. 40% from 3 - 53% overall. 73% FT's. 17.3 pts, 3.7 boards, 1.2 assists. Like most JuCo's - not known for his defensive work. Best known as a slashing, penetrating player who scores near the basket. His 40% from 3 was on 38 made baskets in 31 games, so he probably only shoots from 3 when undefended.

Had offers from Oregon State and Baylor. Cancelled visits to those schools after visiting WSU. Interesting recruiting note - it seems that Bruce Weber contacted Wiggins' JuCo coach (after Weber was hired at KSU) inquiring about him. I think Weber will lead KSU to its rightful place as the #3 D1 program in the state of Kansas.

Son of former NBA player - Mitchell Wiggins. Little brother is Andrew Wiggins, 6'7" PF that is Rivals #1 recruit for 2014. That probably means nothing for WSU, but Marshall will have a chance to get into that living room, which wasn't likely before recruiting Nick.

I take this JUCO signing to be a sign that Hawkins won't qualify. If so, I'd like that. Send him to Juco, let him get his associates degree and he can join his best friend, Andre Yates, at Creighton in two years.
