WSU gets yet another PF commit for 2012

6-7 PF Derail Green from Houston Klein Forest (same HS as Toure Murry). Picked WSU over Detriot.

Technically, this completes our 2012 class. Some have logically speculated this means Perry Ellis informed Shocker coaches he would not be choosing WSU. We'll know for sure tomorrow.

Don't know alot about this kid. Could be a decent pick up. The list of schools after him were not that impressive, but I know you can't really go by that to judge how good or bad a player will be.

I feel with the timing it probably means we are not going to be Perry Ellis' choice. That was an uphill battle anyway. Hard to land a top 50 player, even if he IS in your own back yard.

Sounds like Derail could end up being more of a SF as well. I do like the size and athleticism that 3G and company are bringing in. I'm also glad to see that we're still very active in Texas despite losing our major Texas connections on the staff.

Green got some nice post-season awards.

District MVP (Houston)
1st team All Region
TABC All-State (Texas Association of Basketball Coaches)

We've got people feeding us info out of Rockford, Ill on Van Vleet, but we don't have anyone in Houston feeding us info about Green, so he's not getting much attention. WSU has had a player from Houston on the roster for 13 consecutive years, and has had a lot of other players out of Texas, but never with those kinds of credentials coming out of HS. I don't remember Murry's credentials (same HS as Green), but I don't recall them being anything quite that impressive. I think I would remember an All-State selection out of Texas or a region MVP out of Houston.
