I say give KC a chance. See if it can be something. Just make sure the Big XII is not going to be there, even if it is the next weekend.

St. Louis has done a fair job but KC has more potential. More of a college sports town than StL, more of a basketball town, and so forth. Put the women's tourney at historic Municipal Auditorium and run it in conjunction. I bet it would get more local buzz in KC too. And I have always seen KC as more of a Bears town than St. Louis so from a purely homerish standpoint it would probably be better for us.

Having been to a basketball tournament in both cities, I guarantee KC kicks STL's butt if given a chance. Too bad the whiners in the east will never let this conference give it a try.

If it's going to be moved, let's not go to a smaller market. It makes the MVC look even more smalltime.

Move the tournament to Chicago, keep it in St. Louis, or rotate it between the two.

Chicago makes as much sense as Shangri-La. It just will not draw interest. Look at the Big Ten tournament, it has been more successful in Indianapolis. I would only consider St. Louis, KC, and Indianapolis. There are no other neutral site locations within the footprint of this conference that make any sense unless we want to start playing in Big 12/Big Ten locales like the new arena in Lincoln, NE or Bramlage Coliseum, etc.

We're having head coaches leave for assistant jobs and you're worried about KC being considered small time. I guess you're right, we don't want to fall to the Big XII's level.

Well, yes. I like Saint Louis. I've never even been to Kansas City. I'd stay home at least the first year in KC and wait for folks who did go to tell me how it was.

I have been to both. STL is dump. KC has several new entertainment areas and some good old entertainment areas.

yeah, if you really want to think big - send it to Vegas, or send it to Orlando.

I'm fine with STL or KC. I think STL has been absolutely fantastic, and we have had one of the top conference tournaments in the country for the last 25 years there. But at the same time I think that KC could have similar success, and it may work just as well or better there. A rotation between the two could be fun too.

I do not, however, want to see it go anywhere else besides STL or KC. I think any other city would be silly and make little sense.

Chicago?

What an awful idea. I can only think of one school, which would support such an idea.

I take it back. Maybe two schools.

As far as Kansas City goes, are there a lot of larger hotels close to the arena? Usually when I attend meetings in KC the sites are the Overland Park area, Crown Center area and Country Club Plaza area. I know they have been revitalizing the downtown area and have heard about the power and light district but not familiar with what is offered. Kansas City is a cool town and one of my all time favorite resturants is Jack Stack at the freight house of Union Station. When at tournaments I usually attend all the games so there isn't much time for looking around but it is nice to have a late night dinner or refreshment if wanted. Either town would be fine with me.
