Boy those are some cowardly bold statements, Aargh. If you believe that WSU is going to be really good again next year, why don't you explain to us how good you think that the Shockers will be? Instead of making trollish comments like "well I guess you can slot us in the play-in games in STL" while simultaneously telling us how much better your players are than everyone else's, why don't you tell us where you think they can or will finish in the league.

Its certainly not unreasonable for anybody to think that a team that has to replace as many players as WSU has to is going to finish mid-pack. And its also not unreasonable to think that the players coming in are just as talented, and can get them right back to the top of the conference either. If you are going to have the confidence to come on here and say that WSU is "on a different level than the rest of the Valley", I would think that you would be confident enough to provide us your predictions as to how it will actually turn out as well, rather than making guarded smack talk that you won't have to back up.

I'd also bet that WSU would love to have the kind of season this year that CU experienced after graduating five seniors.

Please. Creighton did not lose anybody of real significance two years ago. WSU is losing starters and all-valley players. Not even close to the same situation.

Anybody of real significance? Kenny Lawson was a four year starter, made all defensive teams and all valley teams.

He wasn't the only starter lost either.

Once again, you have no idea what you are talking about. I know, I know - your blind jealousy of Creighton keeps you from being able to see things clearly when Creighton is mentioned. Just once it would be nice to see you actually think before posting when it comes to Creighton. Your act is embarrassing.

I agree with DJA that CU has no trouble reloading when they lose a lot of experienced players.

Some of the posters out here are about as adept at detecting sarcasm as Sheldon on "The Big Bang Theory". In other words, totally oblivious to its existence.

Kenny Lawson was not a starter. He was so freaking good that he was benched during his senior year because the freshman and sophomores were better players. But I'm sure that you just accidentally forgot to mention that.

Am I missing something else, or do you seriously want to try and equate the losses of Kaleb Korver and Wayne Runnels to the WSU losses of Joe Ragland, Toure Murry, and Garrett Stutz? C'mon...

Jealousy? lol, yep.

DJ

Are you really comparing Stutz, Kyles, Ragland, Murry, and Smith to Lawson, Witter, Korver, Harriman, Ashford, and Runnels?

Giant stretch

Monumental

CU was replacing 78 mpg. WSU is replacing 103 mpg.

CU replaced 30% scoring, 34% assts, 31% stl, 37% 3pt, 43% ORB, and 44.6 DRB

WSU is replacing 73% scoring, 70% assts, 63.5% stls, 86% 3pt, 60% ORB, and 64% DRB.

That is a lot to replace. Scary thing is I think they have the horses to compete, just depends on how quickly frosh and jucos can get their sea legs. They will need a lot of guys to emerge quickly.

Counting on jucos is a huge risk. Since the explosion of prep schools very few really good players go the juco route and waste half their basketball careers in smelly, dumpy juco gyms playing in front of 200 people.

Buyer beware if hanging your season on these players.

I, too, am projecting a 9th place finish for WSU. It is their destiny, especially with a coach "in over his head in this conference".

Honestly, I'm not. And I'm certainly not saying WSU can't hope to compete. I've said repeatedly that Marshall is a good recruiter and I am one of the few that picked them to win the MVC last year because I thought their guard play would be better than the rest of the conference. (FWIW, I haven't decided where to slot them this year yet because I'm waiting to see what their final lineup ends up being -- right now they have more players than schollies, so some guys probably aren't going to make it).

But the initial quote, to which I responded, only discussed losing five seniors. I was just trying to point out the WSU wasn't the first team to lose 5 starters. My little UNI stalker was seemingly unable to read Aargh's initial quote and just melted down, which he seems to do every time I post anything. (Whatever you do, don't bring up UNI's financial decision or he'll go thermonuclear and probably complain to the mods that UNI is being picked on!)
