I'm not 100% convinced on that based on my interactions with U of L fans a couple weeks ago a the UL/UK game, or my family in the UL area who have been season ticket holders for 20 years...

Does those fans =big 12 $ ?

Considering the quality of education offered at a commuter school like Louisville it does not shock me that their fans or even alums might not be intelligent enough to understand the unfolding landscape of college athletics. But I can not understand for the life of me why they wouldn't be begging admission to the Big XII. If they legitimately have a choice between Big Least/Big 12 and they don't leave then Jurich and those horse people are just really, really not very bright.

From info that I had heard both insider and in the media, UL was doing whatever they can to get into the Big 12. They were crushed last year when WVU got the call over them. The horse people there need to understand how awful the Big East is going to be in another 5 years in everything. Everything.

Everyone involved with Louisville wants to move to the Big 12, except for Pitino. He's an east coast guy that recruits the east coast (NYC in particular) heavily and is afraid recruiting will suffer with such a move. Pitino has been pretty vocal about his desire to stay in the BIg East and has insinuated that he will leave Louisville if they jump. Since they are ranked number one in quite a few preseason polls, I'd expect Pervert Pitino will be allowed to make the decisions for now.

If Louisville is a commuter school, Missouri State is a community college.

Louisville IS a commuter school, fwiw.

However, to knock the education at U of L shows the education that casey has...although he has done it plenty of times prior to that post.

The new Big East deal that is being worked on is every big as lucrative as the B12 deal $ wise.

If Louisville is a commuter school then they do have a lot of good basketball and football players in the area!

Being a commuter school has nothing to do with athletics, really. However, they have coaches that are damn good recruiters, and Louisville is a fantastic city. Couple that with the fact that facilities are top notch and you've got a good recipie.

The fact is U of L IS a commuter school (google University of Louisivlle commuter school and be amazed by the results), it would be damn hard for it not to be. The school has an enrollment of over 20 grand and growing in a metro area of over 1.5 million with the school being located where it is (again go to google and map where the campus is, then look at what they are surrounded by, they are right across the road from Churchill Downs). They are trying to change it, but that's not an easy thing to do, espeically since there are only 12 residence halls on campus.

As far as the acadmeics go (yes this is from Wiki but as someone who applied there, has had family graduate from there, and a wife get offered a full ride for a masters degree from there I can promise you this matches the media they print)

"The University of Louisville offers bachelor's degrees in 70 fields of study, masters' degrees in 78 fields of study, and doctorate degrees in 22 fields of study. The Center for Measuring University Performance at Arizona State University, in its 2009 annual report, ranks U of L in the top public research universities in the United States. The ranking is based on nine different measures: Total Research, Federal Research, Endowment Assets, Annual Giving, National Academy Members, Faculty Awards, Doctorates Granted, Postdoctoral Appointees, and SAT/ACT range.[11] The University ranks in the First Tier by U.S. News & World Report.[12] The school's admission standards are considered "more selective" by U.S. News & World Report.[13]
Academically, U of L boasts a College of Business that is ranked among the top 7 percent in the nation, a dental school ranked in the top 10 regularly according to board scores, a law school tied with two other colleges for the 97th ranking in the nation,a top 100 College of Education and Human Development, and nationally respected programs in engineering, social work, and music. The College of Business at the University of Louisville offers a distinctive Ph.D. program with a concentration in Entrepreneurship. The United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE) has named the college its 2010 National Model PhD Entrepreneurship Program award winner. Its programs in Entrepreneurship are ranked among the best in the world, including a Top 20 ranking in 2006, 2007, and 2008 (#17) by U.S. News & World Report, a Top 10 ranking by Entrepreneur Magazine and the Princeton Review, and a Top 26 ranking from Fortune Small Business.[14] UofL is also the only U.S. college to offer a minor in African American theatre,[15] among only 21 schools in the U.S. to offer a graduate degree in Pan-African studies, and among the first five to require public service in its law school curriculum.
The Brandeis Medal is awarded by the law school's Louis D. Brandeis Society, and is given in tribute to Brandeis, a former U.S. Supreme Court justice from Louisville and the namesake of the university's law school."

If the B10 wasn't so uptight they'd be a PERFECT fit for the B10 with academics, athletics, etc... However, with the new Big East contract I think they'll stay there, unless the B12 makes an offer that can't be refused

Louisville belongs in the Big Ten about as much as Murray State does. Sheesh. Academically it is just not a fit and I am being charitable in the words I use. They aren't AAU which every Big Ten member is save Nebraska. Checkmate. End of discussion.

In terms of their athletes, in football and baseball in particular they recruit the heck out of Miami. They get their share of miscreants, undesirables, and academic castoffs that others won't take a chance on. They push the envelope on the term "student-athlete" in ways that would make Mark Emmert blush. Remember our AD came from there and has not found our culture to be as conducive in replicating that. And thankfully so I might add.

I don't claim to know the Big East payout in the new television deal but they are letting Houston, SMU, and Central Florida in their conference. Willingly too, not by some court order. If that can get them a better TV deal then the Big XII then that just says that Bowlsby is not doing his job.

I'd be surprised if someone gave the Big East a big TV deal. It's all about Football and Big East football is crap. Louisville is their best football team this year.........nuff said.

You're a moron if you honestly believe any of that....

The new AD at Louisville is 1000times better than their last one. Take a drive over to campus some day and look at what they have going...step on campus and actually research what their academics are doing these days.
