Let's contract Drake too and just go with 8.

Uh, no.

And no way the chance is 99%.

Wanna bet?

Its just too painfully obvious that the MVC will go that direction. It would be just so incredibly easy for them to do. Both schools desperately want to be in the MVC, and both schools already have a strong association/familiarity with the conference through football.

As I said, I don't want them to do it either. But I do believe that it will happen eventually.

I was mocked when I suggested that the North Dakota schools would be options. I don't think they are Option A or B, but I really think they are on the list somewhere.

Why would you expect that? What would be the benefit/reason for that?

It would be expected because the non-FB playing schools don't give a flip about FB. I would also expect the league to want to keep the public/private mix at its present levels.

More importantly, I would hope we would be looking for a school that puts hoops first and don't just settle for someone because they already play in the MVFC.

Incidentally, I think that if the MVC made it known that we were looking, we would find quite a few schools with interest, including every single member of the Horizon league (which, by the way, is why I really doubt this rumor.... The Horizon won't try to poach from us for fear that we will poach right back to replace the departed team).

MVFC affiliation would not play a factor. That the North Dakota schools are well supported and the state is swimming in oil revenue could make them attractive eventually.

Sure, I'd take that bet.

If a private, non scholarship FB school leaves, they will not be replaced with a public FB playing school. You can bank on that. The remaining private schools would never go for it and WSU probably wouldn't either.

You can add MSU to that list as well. Don't see the Bears itching to grab the University of Southern Canada.

I don't see them moving into a new arena and a $3MM practice facility to turn around and commit program suicide.

Looking at the Evansville message board, it looks like the rumor started as the Horizon looking at Southern Indiana, the current D-2 school in Evansville and Scooter has morphed this into a UE thing.

Maybe I will start a thread that Bradley is looking at the Summit and see if I can get more pages than this one. I did hear from a reliable source that the MEAC plane was seen at Terre Haute International....

I didn't 'morph' it into anything. I posted on this board the exact tweet from a UW-Mil affiliated person. I was trying to use the USI link to show that the move for UE may not be happening.

Just because we all are sure that 'our' team isn't leaving the Valley, it doesn't mean that other conferences aren't knocking.

I'd prefer UE stay in the MVC.
