Interesting get that came out of nowhere. Evidently kid grew 2 inches from 5'9 to 5'11 and got opportunity to show self against elite competition this summer and shined. Coach Lowery [he of K-St ] was recruiting out east and in conversation with Coach Lusk learned we were still wanting a pg in the 2013 class and gave Lusk the heads up on this player. Seen video and kid has major athleticism [hops and quickness] but evidently his intangibles are thru the roof. Anyway, we are set for 2013, at least for now, and have added two necessities , a center and pg, and one of the best HS shooters in the country. Perhaps not an eye-poping haul, but one that fills needs for sure. Added to this years group of 6, they will form the nucleus of what the Bear's will be the next few seasons.

Really like the way Lusk has established balance in those 9 players, two pgs[ 1 with size/strength, 1 with extreme quicks] 2 shooting guards both about 6'3, a 6'5 wing, a pair of 6'7 forwards[ one with perimeter skills, one a defensive/rebounding type], and two posts about 6'10, [one who really shoots well from the trey and the other more low post oriented]. Looks good on paper anyway.

“Next year I plan on helping my team make it to NCAA tournament and possibly win it. They haven’t made it there in 13 years. So that would be a great accomplishment to achieve as a freshman,” Thomas said.

Ahh, the exuberance of youth; gotta love it. The more I read about this kid the more I like him though; his ratings heading into this summer were very low-majorish as were his offers, but he has definitely caught the eye of recruiters of late, and a number of BCS teams were starting to take hard looks. Not sure how we moved to the head of the line in just a couple weeks enough to get a commit, but I think we are gonna be very happy we did over the next 5 years. We were still pursuing a couple 3*** top 150 type guards as of last week, so for Lusk to decide to grab this kid as his last scholy over them says he thinks alot of this kids potential.

That is the attitude of a champion. If a kid didn't feel that way deep down inside his heart why would you want him?
