Obviously you don't count defensive rebounding a playing defense? I'm certain Doug was one of the absolute best rebounders in the conference last year, in addition to being its best scorer. Yes defensive rebounding is a part of playing defense but most people think individual man to man defense when talking about defensive prowess. Larry Bird was universally recognized as just an average defender yet he was a great defensive rebounder.
In the games I saw CU play last year I thought Doug improved quite a bit last year on the defensive end last year as opposed to his freshman year.
