Bears won 81-67 but the D sucked and we can't rebound...young guys can score and we will shoot a lot of treys this year (17-38 this game).

Thurman sure looks to be the real thing --- a point a minute and 6 for 9 from three

Getting outrebounded is troubling though.

You hit the nail on the head. Our defense and rebounding was subpar. Our opponent was playing a zone and really packed it in and I don't think we looked prepared for that.

On the plus side though our young point guards controlled the offense pretty well with very few turnovers. And Gavin and Marcus Marshall were studs on offense. Gavin looks to be able to handle pretty well in addition to having a smooth shot with great range. M Marshall buried several 3's as well as several eye popping drives.

The offense exceeded my expectations but the defense was disappointing. But for the 1st game with a team featuring 6 freshmen it was an ok 1st performance.

Is Thurman's game at all resemble KW? What are the expectations for Thurman this year. Certainly a lot to replace. I wish Thurman well...being an ICT kid.

Some similarities between KW and Gavin. About the same height and both excellent jumpshooters with good range. Kyle was physically stronger but Gavin has time to develop that.

Its a lot to ask of a freshman but I think we need and expect him to play big minutes and be one of our primary offensive options. I'm sure he'll be up and down but I think he can handle that.

UE takes on the Prairie Stars of University of Illinois -Springfield
Saturday @4:05

The 2011-12 season saw the Prairie Stars win 12 Great Lakes Valley Conference games and 15 overall as UIS made its first-ever GLVC Tournament appearence. UIS was one of the hottest teams in the country down the stretch winning 11 out of its last 16 games

With 5 seniors and 4 juniors, this should be a well experience team.

Coach Ben Wierzba came to UIS after spending the previous three seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Evansville under head coach Marty Simmons. Prior to joining the Aces, Wierzba spent a season working for Simmons at the University of Southern Illinois-Edwardsville as a member of the GLVC.

UE beat UIS 79-54. All players play including walk-ons. box scores here

http://gopurpleaces.com/custompages/Men ... ueexh2.htm

18 offensive boards and 31 defensive for UE Will see where the Aces are Saturday against Notre Dame. Time still to be determine by Football. Last I heard pitt and ND tied in South Bend

Edit ND wins
