WSU in the NBA?

I have to admit, I don't follow any MVC team very closely. I only have a cursory knowledge of each team's standout players. But when I think of WSU, every year we hear about how great WSU's players are and how good of recruits they've landed. I'm assuming it must be correct and the folks down in Wichita would never overhype their players (other than Gal Mekal of course). If they are indeed the most talented and athletic players in the Valley, when was the last time a WSU player made it to the NBA? Is it that the NBA types don't appreciate the talent Marshall and Turgeon bring to Wichita, or are they maybe bringing in really good athletes but only above-average basketball players? Also, it appears a WSU player has won the MVC POY award 1 time since the mid-80's. I assume that means the MVC media also don't appreciate just how good the WSU players are compared to the rest of the Valley?

Honest question --- Somebody please tell me why we should think WSU's players are so good? Is it just that college basketball is so low on talent this year?

The views of those on this board and SN probably do not reflect those of the average WSU fan. To your question, not many Valley players make the NBA so please don't single us out.

I've stated clearly that this is a wait and see group of players. High risk high reward. We think HCGM can turn them into a great team but it won't happen overnight.

I've read right here in the past that Orupke is not only an NBA player, but a lottery pick.

Having just faced a big man that experts have said will be a lottery pick, I can only conclude that the poster that made such a suggestion has never seen an NBA game in his entire life.

Festus Ezeli, and Fab Melo are Orukpe's comparisons from last year. If they can be drafted, so can Orukpe.

Anyway, here are some players drafted from Wichita State:

Most of those were drafted in later rounds and didn't play much. I could do the same thing for any university; I made a spreadsheet with the career stats and college of every draft pick in modern NBA history.

I don't know about that. I was at the CLink Friday night. At halftime I went to the bathroom. There were long lines for the urinals and the Hoppers were full of people dropping deuces. No smell.
