Tonight we proved our young, albeit very talented and athletic team, is willing to go as nasty on the defensive end as you would like. I don't prefer these types of SIU-C'esque games, but it does show some mental maturity on the part of the young Shockers to buy into it so early.

Our Shocker team prefers to play you straight up, winning with offensive firepower and man-to-man defense but.... if things go south, we can bring the pain and win a game the ugly way.

It's a great day when your team grows up!

It's a great day to be a Shocker!

The Shockers look like UNI teams of the past. Good Defense, Poor Offense, Find a way to win.

Lol. What are the UNI teams of the present? Average Defense, Average Offense, hope to win?

Some of you are cracking me up, including some WSU fans.

I made no comment on UNI teams of the present, I will leave that observation to you as i have yet to see them play. What I did see was the shockers missing shots from 2 ft all the way out to 25. It is early in the year and I am sure they will get much better, or their Juco players could never adapt to D1 ball and they can finish in the cellar.

WSU has 1 Juco player that hasn't adjusted to D1 ball, and I suspect every team not named Creighton would be interested in having him in their rotation, if not starting.

And even if they got nothing from Early and Wiggins they wouldn't finish in the cellar.

Just to clarify your post.. Wiggins is still adjusting to D1 ball, when he does he is going to break some hearts as he is a sick 6'6" athlete. Cle' Early would be welcomed on EVERY team in the Valley and most likely would start for every one of them. Cle' is an out-of-this-league talent... literally.

I think his inability to make an outside shot might keep him out of some starting lineups.

Well, it depends on where each team would play him. Because of his size, he could play PF, even center for some Valley schools (basically as a second PF though). But his skills are mostly perimeter oriented, so schools could also use him at SF. According to his JUCO page, he actually played "guard," which means that he was a 6'8" SG/SF.

I think Early will eventually start to make some outside shots, and that should boost his PPG to the 13-17 range. I don't think many Valley teams would pass that up.
