Its already the case that people don't watch. BTN's top rated program ever drew a 3.3-share in the Big Ten's core markets*.

Put that another way: 96.7% of people who were watching TV in those markets were watching something else.

Or yet another way: 96.7% of the people in those markets could lose BTN, not miss it, and save $0.75 per month on their cable bill. Which would wreck the Big Ten's business model.

[size=80]*: Those markets: Chicago, Dayton, Columbus, Detroit, Indianapolis, Minneapolis/St. Paul and Milwaukee[/i]

Yep...

When I was in Louisville in Sept it sounded like the Big East was pretty tight and wanting to stay together....something happened since then.

Louisville will be in the B12 in the next 2 years.

As a part time K-State fan in my free time I can tell you almost unequivocally that Louisville stands behind Florida State, Clemson, GA Tech, and Miami on the Big XII's wishlist. It might actually trail the University of Phoenix, DeVry, and ITT Career Tech too but that is just a guess on my part.

I can't say that Lousiville won't be in the Big XII in two years but they had better start begging. Really, really begging. And quickly because they have significant competition.

Are any of those other programs interested in leaving their conference?

Of course I mean unequivocally interested with the power of 1000 suns.

Louisville was already begging the BXII.

What they need to do is tell BYU they belong in a conference. BYU and the Big 12 can work. Then Louisville can be added as #12.

If the Big East loses Louisville (BXII), UConn (ACC), and Rutgers (B10):

all sports:
Temple
Houston
Southern Methodist
Central Florida
South Florida
Cincinnati
Memphis

football only:
Boise St
San Diego St
Navy

non-football:
Georgetown
Villanova
Seton Hall
St John's
Providence
DePaul
Marquette

They can glue together a football conference with the 7 left if the 3 non-footballs leave (which I think would happen). Invite East Carolina for all sports and Xavier for non-football and you can keep it together.

All of those are likely to not leave the ACC or move tot he SEC....

Those schools will be when the ACC is rip to shreds in the near future. The Big XII will have the pick of Clemson and FSU. I think GA Tech could end up in the Big Rusty in fact. Louisville will have competition. And they won't be the pick of the litter.

What a mess - it's sad to see what the almighty dollar is doing to the college athletics landscape with no regard for history and tradition.

There's rumblings that Georgia Tech is trying to get into the middle of this Big 10 talk.

If that goes down, I'm not ruling out anything, including the BXII trying to overrule Texas and an eventual succession there that leads to a Pac-16 and an entire detonation of the entire system.

Sounds like Maryland to the B1G is a done deal - ESPN reports board of regents has approved the move.
