does the break up of the Big East mean the MVC could go after DePaul? Wouldn't DePaul be a good addition to the MVC??

Would a DePaul and Marquette even consider joining the MVC or would they try and form a league of the remaining Big East privates?

You could create one heck of a basketball only league. I'm sure Creighton fans quietly are hoping that happens right?

The Valley has been too quiet, we need to think about adding teams to the league. If the Valley has a good year and makes noise, this might be a good year to add 1 or 2 teams.

I forgot about Marquette, they'd be an excellent addition also! Bring'em on! They would have a more regional location for their olympic sports, = less travel, but they probably look down on the MVC as a lesser conference to belong to

I don't think Marquette is overly concerned with the travel expenses of their olympic sports when the Big East revenue is more than four times that of the Valley. The Big East payed out 3.6 million to each school for television rights. The MVC's total contract was $200,000.

Do people see the irony of not for profit institutions looking at how they can keep getting more and more money?

I don't really. It's no more ironic than the Alanis Morissette song.

I think you have a misunderstanding of what "not for profit" really means.

If you increase revenues, you can spend more and still not have improved your bottom line. A not for profit is also not restricted from actually having a profit. It is really just a way around paying taxes.

Colleges are always trying to get more money. It is known as "fundraising". I get calls about once a quarter asking if I would like to make a donation, don't you? (If not, that could be at least a part of UNI's financial issues).

Personally, if I was a Bluejay I would be hoping for Marquette and CU to get invites to the A10.
Thoughts and prayers to WSU finding a new conference.
