As a Billiken fan, I have one question for MVC fans:

Would the Valley accept SLU if the dominoes fell in a way that left SLU in the A-10?

I think the Valley would easily accept SLU but the thinking is that the SLU administration would not be interested in that at all.

The problem is that SLU's alumni are on the east coast, and SLU heavily recruits that area for students. The reason they aren't in the MVC now is because they have little interest in the Midwest.

Right, and SLU's indifference towards the Valley anyway should be considered even if SLU is left out and wants a new home. They'd just leave at the next opportunity anyway.

That said, I do think the possibility of a 2nd tier/hybrid of the Horizon-A10 might pose an opportunity for Bradley.

Something like LaSalle, St. Joes or SLU (if either of them are left out), Loyola, UIC, Cleveland St, Detroit, Oakland and Valpo.

You'd probably have to take the "core" of the Horizon to keep the autobid. I was reading some MAAC boards and Niagara interestingly has a lot of interest in the Horizon League.

Hearing 2 schools are gone from someone who would know. One up and the other lateral.

CU to the new league
UE to the Horizon

Edit: This is happening.

Oakland and Belmont were once rumored to be going to the HL along with UE. If that happened and CU leaves the Valley, I would think it would be a good move on UE's part, especially if they could get Bradley to come along for the ride.

Why would UE go to the horizon? Better geography? I'm sure the MVC wouldn't mind...

I hear this argument a lot for SLU but am a little skeptical on how much it really matters. How many kids on the east coast are turning on their televisions, seeing SLU, and saying yes, that is where I want to go to school?

Sweet child of mine!

That would be ok with me, stick with 8 teams.

If CU leaves the Valley I think most people realize WSU would do everything in their power to find a new home. The MVC minus CU and WSU is not exactly a powerhouse and would probably be pretty similar to the HL in most years.
