One game on the road against a team playing in their Super Bowl isn't going to change that fact. A team that is nationally ranked and 15-1 has to play poorly to lose to a team middling their way through the season. Add the fact that it is a road game and upsets happen.
Being a middling Valley team doesn't earn you the right to say you were better than a team, simply based on one game. I'm sure most Evansville fans will be screaming this if it happens. After all, it is their Super Bowl and it's been a while since they've beaten WSU.
If the loss happens, I would compare it to our 3OT road loss at Drake last year. Clearly, everybody knows who the better team was, even after that game. One team got hot, while the other played like a road team with a target on their back. You can't expect a perfect game and perfect season every time out.
In this case, Ace Dad is on the money.

Is that you're goal from the first half of the season? To say that if you lose on the road to Evansville that you are still the better team?
You are the Super Bowl for Evansville? Man, what does that make Creighton? The Super Duper Bowl? Being the better team doesn't mean that you win all the time, that's why we play the game. I bet the Patriots would say they were the best team in the NFL when they went the regular season undefeated and lost in the real Super Bowl to the Giants. Who was named the champion of that season? Let the players play the game, cheer for them as loud as you can and in the end be gracious in victory and defeat. But if you want to be called the best team in any game, go ahead and win it.

You just proved my entire point. "The better team doesn't win all of the time."
This would be the case here. Down 3 starters, were probably due for an upset at some point. Might as well be in one team's Super Bowl.

I hate to disappoint you but you are not even the best team we will have played up to this point. That honor goes to Butler, ranked higher then you and had just beaten the number 1 team in the country.
This is our 4th ranked team we have played this year. I can promise you Marty does not put emphasis on any one game. Win or lose he will say its a long season and we have to sustain a level of play. If they win, not one player or coach will have felt they have won anything except another conference basketball game.

Not excuses, just facts of life. I don't expect perfection and I certainly don't expect a 29-1 record.
How many of those better, ranked teams were at home? This is most definitely your Super Bowl. I've seen plenty if the pack the house mantra and $5 ticket promotions. Sad thing is it probably won't even generate 7 or 8k fans.
