Way to go Aces!! Gritty performance by the Shockers...gotta give credit where credit is due.

To ShoxRox - sorry about your luck. Also, we Aces fans are not sorry that we just defeated a ranked conference opponent.

I was thinking the same thing about the Shockers after watching them tonight. I believe they are going to finish in the top 5 in the league.

For all Wichita has done down 3 starters is quite impressive. Hope those guys get healthy soon.

Evansville was awful on D last year, however they've made strides this season and that, along with some just silly mistakes by WSU (dribbling off their own legs, passes right to Evansville players, etc) allowed Evansville to stick around and hit a couple big shots late to give them just enough of a cushion to pull out the victory. I can't recall a game that was as back and forth with so many of the trips down the floor being a one possession game. I don't believe the lead was more than 5 for the first 38 minutes, no more than 6 at any given time during the game.

From a UE perspective it's great to the big fella, Egidijus be the big guy Evansville has lacked. He had a huge block on a dunk attempt midway through the 2nd half when WSU had all the momentum, up 5. In addition the UE bench played well today, DJ Ballentine hit a couple shots after struggling once Colt came back when he was really playing well during the stretch Colt was out. Jahr seems to really relish his role of defending and rebounding.

I know this whole rivalry between a couple of you guys has a life of its own with the whole Super Bowl stuff but this was a big game for Evansville. It's a big game anytime a ranked team comes to town. For me, with what WSU has done over the last few years it's always going to be a test and a challenge against Coach Marshall and the program. With four senior starters this is one of the best teams Coach Simmons has had here and to be an upper team in the league, to have a chance to go to the postseason, fulfill those dreams of playing in the NCAA Tournament, these are the games a team who has those aspirations that those kids want to play in. Evansville is playing better basketball as of late and did enough tonight to get that win.

Couple thoughts...

UE did not shoot the ball well at all from the field, 3 or FT. Shockers shot close to a season high of 55%. UE got hammered on the boards, again. UE did a great job of creating lots of turnovers.

If EO is a lottery pick, UE center will be an NBA all star.

Next year without Colt could be painful.

It should have been a jump ball at the end of the game.

I understand he was in foul trouble in the 1st half but I was not impressed with Early.

Colt is back on track for 1st team All-Conference.

Colt had zero points in garbage time

UE will miss Troy Taylor more then people will realize next year.

5500 is sad but it is what it is

4-1 and 11-6 great start to the conference.

Another Super Bowl game at Drake on Wednesday

If you're going to try and downgrade your win, at least spell the damn word right.

A solid post, that I nearly 100% agree with.

Thanks for your comments and good game to you.

Agreed but WSU in the top 5 is not noteworthy, Evansville has not had a winning conference record since 1999 so them finishing in the top 5 is IMHO...sorry if this upsets you.
