It derives from ancient sanscrit and roughly translated means, "world's largest forehead".

Back to Colt....Yeah he is a great shooter. The problem is, he needs 2, sometimes 3 off-ball screens to even get him open. Evansville's entire offense is entirely predicated on running screens for Colt to get him shots. This would NOT happen in the NBA. Also, Colt does nothing else well besides shoot. It takes way more than that to play in the NBA.

Maybe you remember Nate Funk? He was a pretty similar player to Colt, except he could also create his own shot off the dribble, and he shot the 3 better. He hasn't and he won't come close to sniffing the NBA. Colt won't either.

I brought up SoW because I figured people would be like, "why does CB think Colt might make it to the NBA and SoW won't?" SoW would get eaten alive at the forward position and no way could he be a guard in the NBA. Colt is a lot quicker than you give him credit for. He needs those screens because every team puts 100% of their focus on him. He also penetrates well and has some nice pull-up moves in close. Colt is only a couple inches shorter than SoW, is a MUCH better shooter, and is much quicker. Just watching his shot, I believe he would excel at the NBA 3-point line.

P.S.

Why is your name BJFinal4?

potentially the best player someday? yes, but you can/could have said that for any number players over the years. CURRENTLY, McDermott is the best player in this conference, and its not close. Statistically he is the best player, and he leads a team that is in first place in the conference. Its really not even a discussion right now. However, that could change by seasons end. Lots of basketball left.

BTW, you can engrave McDermotts name on the trophy right now barring injury. There is one simple reason: national reputation. You can have your opinion about McDermott, but the fact is he is in the running for National Player of the Year. Warranted or not, that is a fact. The MVC will not embarrass themselves by having a player in the Naismith running and not be their own conference player of the year. Just won't happen.

You hit the nail on the head. I often find myself wondering what you're thinking.

His arms will be hurting from all the shooting. His wrists will be bruised from the dunking.

That pansy won't know what hit him.

Now that's funny. Well played, sir.

As long as Doug McD is in the league that guy from Wichita will not be the best player in the league. He may have a better game here or there but that is about it.

Early not discussed here at all. Huh....

I could be mistaken here, but if Early was clearly the best player in the MVC (better than Doug), then logic would indicate that he would be, at minumum, be a part of the NATIONAL POY conversation being currently had by the experts and most likely discussed/ranked above Doug also....yet he is not.

I am sure there are some conspiracy theories on why cbssports.com does not have the Wichita player as potential POY. Elgin probably had something to do with it.

Have you considered the total body of work for both players? Doug McDermott has been on the national scene for over 3 times as long as Early, and thus came into the year with the media spotlight already on him.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that even if Early was the best player in the league (he isn't, but might be the most talented), he wouldn't be on the national radar yet. And yes, I know some freshmen are in those talks, but even those freshmen had some media presence because they tend to be high ranked recruits going to BCS schools, not JuCos going to Wichita State.

Early is a nice MVC player as we've seen in 5 valley games. Maybe even all league level. Lets see where things stand in a month or so before crowning him.
