Mid-40's RPI is not where you want to be. Especially when your conference is ranked 9th.

Conference rankings make no difference. Throw that out. Mid-40 RPI's make it all the time. There are enough good wins and not a TON of horrible losses among the top 3. With how weak the whole NCAA is, that is good enough this year. As long as the top 3 avoid any more "bad losses" all 3 have a good shot.

tell that to the 3 MSU teams that were left out with RPIs in the 20s and 30s...

I submitted a question to Myron Medcalf during his NCAA basketball chat on espn this afternoon, here is what he said

Scott (Indiana)

Is the MVC trending towards getting only 2 teams in the NCAA now, with CU and WSU losing lately? If Indiana State continues to win they should be in right?

That league is in trouble. I think it's still a multiple bid league. Maybe. Could end up as a one bid league if Indiana State, Creighton and Wichita State continue to take bad losses. I don't know if any team on that list is safe right now. That Illinois State loss really hurt Creighton's resume.

I took a look at some other conferences to see how their top 3 teams were doing, knowing that OOC play was probably a more valid indicator:

ACC: 10-0, 8-2, 7-3
Big 12: 8-2, 7-3, 7-3
Big East: 8-2, 8-2, 7-3, 8-4, 7-4
Big Ten: 9-2, 9-2, 8-3
PAC 12: 8-3, 8-3, 8-3
SEC: 9-1, 8-2, 7-3

MVC: 9-4, 9-4, 9-4

The Jays and the Shocks can only lose to each other.
There is no difference between basketball and life. Give both your best and ignore the "fans" on the sideline.
