Yay, we got a win off the post I started for the first game....

Nice to see the Panthers playing with some fire again, it was missing for a chunk in the middle of the season. Have 3 of 4 games left on the road but they are at the current #8, 9, and 10 teams in the league currently. Like our chances if we keep the intensity. Bradley is the only team in our last 8 games to crack 60 on us.

Difference besides the hustle plays going UNI's way was free throws. UNI 15-19, CU 5-14. Did we just foul the right shooters? I know McDermott missing one was a gift and Echy's never been great, but 2-6 from Chatman and Johnson? Just a question for Jays fans though I know they are fretting a lot of things right now. Hope Wragge is okay.

Again, nice to see my Panthers picking up the pace, second hottest team in the Valley currently behind the Redbirds.

Koch simply owned McD on the highlight video I saw tonight. Was that defense McD or is that something you pretend to do while waiting for your team to get the ball back for you?

Haven't we known that answer for 3 years? I've never seen Doug do much for D, then again I only see him play once or twice a year
[Insert snappy comeback]

Koch guards Doug better than anyone in the Valley.

Jake really should get at least second team AC this year. He doesn't have the PPG that some do, but he is top 10 in the league in rebounds, defensive rebounds, field goal %, blocks and steals in conference play...also averaging over 10 ppg

The way he took the game over was incredible tonight.

Here is the box score showing how much he took the game over

4:43 Jake Koch made layup
3:45 Koch layup
3:19 Koch steal
2:33 Koch block
2:32 Koch defensive rebound
2:20 Koch layup
1:22 Koch rebound
1:00 Koch layup
:52 Koch block
0:18 (Koch steal)
:26 (FT's, made one missed one
:18 Koch steal
:18 Koch made 2 FTs
:09 Koch defensive rebound
:09 Koch 2 FT's.

That ole' defense McD was playing was ridiculous. I was embarrassed for him. He just let Koch roll right through him and score. Then he grabbed the ball and chucked it inbounds so he could get the ball and try to score.

As fun as the first 18 games were, the last 8 games have been tough to watch. Its no fun, but not unexpected to see 9/10s of the MVC fan base gloating over watching these guys self destruct. I don't begrudge your enjoyment. I know i'd be right there with you if this happening to someone else.

There has to be something going on beneath the waves that isn't observable to the casual fan. They are completely out of synch. They no longer trust each other and the lack of mental focus reminds me of my 8th grade basketball team. CU was the league bully. WSU and Drake landed a couple of body blows, and we thought just one of those mid-season dips. ISUB and WSU were kind enough to drop a couple of games, giving CU a chance to run away and hide from the rest of the league. But when ISUB punched them in the nose, they went down and curled up like Scut Farkus in A Christmas Story. Which is perplexing to me, because I always thought that although McDermott's UNI teams were not the most talented team on the court, they were usually the tougher team. I really expected to see us put a tougher team on the floor than Dana's teams were.

These guys were the annointed ones. They were going to get CU to the next level. They were the best team in the MVC in 30 years. Etc., etc. And now, with two road games against teams that will most likely score in bunches against them, a swing to St. Mary's and a finisher against a WSU team that will certainly be bent on out-toughing them, they appear to be NIT bound without a run through the MVC tournament - which I can't see happening at this point. It takes a level of toughness to get through St. Louis that this team sorely lacks.

As frustrating as it is to us fans, it has to be really tearing these guys apart inside (either that, or they have already checked out). Rather than the most heralded CU team of all time, they are in real danger of going down as the all-time greatest collapse - eclipsing the 1985 team that dropped their last 6 games of the season, culminating in a 52 point loss to Drake and no post-season bid after a 20-6 start. On the other hand, if you are going to go into the tank, you might as well go down with a big splash.

its called scouting. Greg McDermott seems to let his teams go on cruise control over the course of the season.

St. Mary's is turning into a must win for CU. 3 straight losses has put CU squarely on the bubble.
Thoughts and prayers to WSU finding a new conference.
