Just to be clear, Jackie Carmichael rebounds like that half the time. This was far from intentional on his part. As a poster on our board stated, the refs are giving him too much credit to have the forethought to put a foot in his chest after getting that rebound. I think his first priority was to secure the basketball and second was landing and it just so happened that another player going towards the ball was on the recieving end of jackies foot. You can even see Jackie trying to pull back his foot when he realizes hes going right towards another player.
That said, I still believe something should have been called there, however, there was no call by the refs. So what gets me is how do the refs have the ability to go back and look at a "no call" after the ball re-enters play live. I know you can check at timeouts and such on 3pointers or even to upgrade a foul given, but not a no call. So whether there should have been something called or not, the pure fact that they listened to marshall and reviewed it is flat out wrong. The refs basically were inventing their own rules to the game last night and that is what upsets me the most.
I do agree that Hill should have taken care of the basketball better instead of running out of bounds with it. Had he not done that, this wouldn't be as big of an issue as it is. It is just hard to see the redbirds give a dominating effort for most of the game just to see the officials change the course with a poorly handled situation with Jackie.
So on top of reviewing a play that is not reviewable, they then let WSU pick the shooter which is also wrong. It always leaves me thinking why cant my team ever get breaks like this? How is it that WSU under Marshall always seems to win these types of games and weird situations happen. To me Marshall comes off like the type of person that will try to get away with whatever he can whenever he can and if he gets called out on it he will plead ignorance.
